locker for safe keeping - made in england

See this picture, this we use to keep gold silver jewelry and ingots, gem stones and important documents. This is made in England, my forefathers bought it in 1894, it was fixed and cemented into a wall, in the portion undergoing renovation. It is made from 5mm steel sheets, very strong, weights 500 kilograms; has several chambers, to reach the innermost one has to open 8 locks. 5 workers were able to bring it to the room, it needs repainting. Where you keep your valuables generally? Is it in something like this or in bank lockers? Please share your opinions and comment. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . 04/5/2012

If i have valuable i may keep it in it also. If it is all money, i will keep it in the bank. My house is not really safe even though i put it in that type of locker. Thieves still can bring it all, seriously.

As much as I think it is a great idea to have a lockbox that you can keep your valuables in, we don't really have anything that is of value that it would be worth keeping in a lockbox. Well, I think that if there ever does come a time that I own valuables that I don't need to have regular access to, I will probably pay the money that it would take to have a safe deposit box at the bank. The reason that I would make that choice is because of the fact that they are safer than what we keep in our own homes.

We had one in my father's place till six years ago Professor! I still remember my late grandfather bending down and opening this locker to keep his documents inside. THis was not fixed within the wall but it looks exactly the same model[ from your photograph]All diamond and gold jewellery [ except for those that we wear regularly]are normally kept in bank lockers but we still had it so that some could be retained at home. Six years ago this was sold much to my sadness. I still feel a twinge of pain when I think of it because it has memories associated with it.

It should not have been sold kala, it is an antique, who sold it, your brothers? Well when you are going to a festival, you wear all those, so you have to keep some in home, not in bank locker, in Mumbai it is better to keep in bank i guess

hi professor, the next best place aside from a safe at home is the safety deposit boxes in banks. as for me, i keep my little important items in a box under lock and key in my dressing table. ann

Ah that is awesome prof! Yeah old and very strong, so that is where you use to keep valuables? So not anymore now? It's hard when the workers already know your secret. Make sure it's already empty before you have it painted. Seriously I think it's still usable but it's better to scatter the assets unlike what people do before, put it all in just one place.
