Woke up crying because of a dream.

When I see this situation on shows like movies and such, I really think the act is exaggerated because I don't really think that one could dream of someone and actually wake up with a face wet from tears. But last night, my belief had changed and I still couldn't believe I've woken up in the middle of the night and I found myself crying. In my dream, I was really pissed and my tears are flowing because of anger mixed with sadness. I was heaving in my dream, feeling that it's really hard to breath and when I woke and realized that I was really crying I listened to my heartbeat and I'm a bit relieved to know that my breathing and heartbeat is not like what's in my dream. I never thought it'll happen to me, had it ever happened to you too? That you're dreaming that you're crying and really find yourself doing so when you've woken up?

I once had the same experience. Until that, I thought, that's soooo cliché and fake and kitsch. But then... it wasn't because of the stuff happening in my dream, but that in my dream a really nice friend was evil, and I was so disappointed in myefl that I could even imagine something bad about her, even if unconsciously, and I was there with tears in my eyes, waking up.

Yeah, that was my first time too so I just realized recently that those movies weren't exaggerating, but I didn't sit up when I was awaken though. ^^ And not gasping for breath too, so I'll still say that the tv shows are quite exaggerating it. Well that's what I hate in dreams, they'll leave you with bad feelings after, but this dream that made me cry didn't give me anything like that but tears.

When i see those stuff in movies,i too think that they are exaggerating.Because i too have nightmares sometimes. And i have never actually woke up like that. But since you are saying that it actually happened to you.Maybe it does for some people.

Yeah, that's what I really thought too. But at least I didn't sit up when I've been woken up, I just opened my eyes and the tears were already falling. I just hope it won't happen again, it's creepy. I feel stupid because I cried in my dream for a silly matter and felt more stupid to be actually crying all along in the real world.

Yes, I have done this a couple of times, and it is not really a good feeling as I am sure you figured out this morning. If your dreams are active enough it will transfer to your body and act it out. Sometimes this comes in the form of emotion, for other people they may dream that they are going to the bathroom, and actually never get up which leads to an accident in the bed. Human body is a complex thing, but the best thing to do is remind yourself that it was just a dream, and you can calm down and go back to sleep because it is not happening in reality.

Well the matter is I'm aware that it's just a dream and I really don't get worried about what I see in my dreams. It just creep me out that I woke up crying too and I don't feel as pissed as I was in the dream too, so I was like...What the heck was that? I thought those movies are just exaggerating when they have scenes like this. ^^

I hope you'll be fine, I'm glad I didn't wake up gasping for breath or anything like that. My heartbeat was fine too only the tears weirded me out.

This never happened to me. Actually sometimes i wonder, what will my family do if i shout out or cry in the sleep? Will they woke me up, or comfort me? The temptation to fake it and see how they react is there, but so far i'm too timid to try it.

What was it that you were dreaming about exactly that had you crying so bad that you woke up and were really crying? My daughter has come down with tonsilitis and for some reason whenever I give her a fever reducing medicine when she has it she like hallucinates in her sleep. She woke up crying and pointing to all these normal things and saying what was she going to do about all that. It was hard to get her settled back down to sleep.

Oh, I dreamed about my brothers and they're picking on me again (they always do that to me 'coz I'm the youngest) then my late father had scolded me for being so noisy so I was really mad in my dream because I'm the one that was blamed, I didn't cry because I pity myself I cried because of hatred. I experience hallucinating when I was younger because I caught a bad fever, I saw giants really, and I cried and hugged my Mom because I was really afraid, I'm only 10 back then. That happened to my close friend too when he was overdosed with medicine, he told me he was seeing ghost and he was taking pictures of them but his Mom deleted it later because he did captured them in the picture in his phone.

What is the difference between real life/being awake and a dream? At night when you sleep your thoughts are going on, your mind is busy, so the crying is for real. Why shouldn't it happen to you?

I've experience having really bad and horrible dreams that I don't get to sleep anymore out of fear of seeing them again, but that was way back in my childhood. I've learned to ignore my dreams and just get on with it when I grew up, but this 'crying' was a new experience to me so it ticked me. Thanks for participating in the discussion, I would have wish you won't have any bad dreams anymore but that's just not possible.
