Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say. But I would like to know my fellow myLotters, would you appreciate being imitated or copied by someone? The way you dress, the way you speak, your work, your style, and all those sort of things?

If someone would imitate me I would think he/she tries to make a fool out of me. I like strong people, the ones with an own opinion, not afraid telling what is on their mind or being the ones they are. No matter if it's completely different from me. There is nothing flattering about being a copy of me. It's insulting for yourself and ignoring who you are. So no I would surely not appreciate it.

Hello WakeUpKitty, I agree with you when you say that you like people with a strong stand on their own opinion no matter how different it is from you. I also appreciate people like that. Thanks for your insight.

I think that it would get pretty irritating if someone started to imitate you and you have to watch that person do it.

I agree, and keeping an eye to the person who imitates you can be downright tiring and really pissing.

I don't mind if people I don't know would copy some style or some form of the way I speak or dress. But it would really be creepy if this is a person whom you know personally. I expect most of my friends have their own sense of style or manner of acting, and I really appreciate diversity. I don't appreciate if this person is trying to do things like I do, or trying to copy everything about me. When it comes to work, there are a few things you would like to be called original. And it is irritating if people try to copy what you have created and then try to pass it off as their own.

I would be flattered if they give credit to me on that, or if I see that they are sincere about trying to imitate my routine because they believe its the right way and would help them succeed. But, I'd be really annoyed and pissed if someone imitates me and pretends that the idea was original.

Oh, someone had used that pathetic line as an excuse when someone use a work of mine without my permission first. I usually find artists online who rants about art thieves, I've experience being imitated too, but I just don't let myself get agitated too much because I know it would be useless. Through the internet one could easily say he owns and created that thing, in the real world however like those things you've mentioned, yes it would really piss me off. I have a friend who always sticks with me and eventually dresses the sames style as me, but I just don't mention it on her face, I just try to ignore her.

I have been a victim of plagiarism and I agree with you a hundred percent that the line is indeed a pathetic excuse. Thank you for sharing your views on it.

I would say yes and no. I am already in my fifties but more people say that i don't look my age. When i buy clothes i choose the one's that is not so expensive but not so cheap and i see to it that i can carry the clothes well that i could say that i am a smart dresser. I choose clothes with a style that does not go out of fashion.
Last year, it came to my consciousness that there is a woman copying my way of dressing. She even bought a high wedge shoes to appear to be tall because i am taller than her. She also bought blouses in the same color and style of my blouses. At first i am annoyed but later i have gotten used to it. At least i have helped her in any way. Besides, she is a lousy dresser and her wedge shoes is not very becoming to her.
