I am curious to know who out here is into earning free miles/points and of course the status upgrades and how do you go about doing it? I myself have a bunch of credit cards(all paid off) that offer me amazing sign up bonuses for using them with crazy rewards miles as a gift. I also do a few survey sites and social networking that provides me with rewards points. I am hoping in 2 years to just take off for a bit with the family and travel to a few countries all for free so wish me luck.

I don't know if we mean the same but I am saving air miles but never used them, so just save them. I can get flights cheaper but also day outs and get some stuff I buy cheaper. The flights, hotels, etc are way more expensive as when I book it myself so it's kind of useless to me. Must say I am also not super active gathering those points (already have that card since years), I also don't visit the shops who give me those points more frequently just to get them.

Be careful as often the miles expire.

I suggest you have a look at the website by Martin Lewis the money saving expert. He has excellent details about credit cards and suggests ones that can get air miles. I remember reading something written by an American guy and he got loads of air miles. Another reader said what he was saying was rubbish because for his two years worth of air miles he could get a flight from Seattle to Portland. I recommend couch surfing. Good luck taking off with your family and visiting a few countries.

I signed up for 3 cards and got 5 international flights, you have to know what you are doing and what sign up bonuses there are. I use many sites and cards so miles for me are not really an issue.

The best way to earn miles and points is to go on a lot of trips on the airlines and use your card. The more trips you go on, the more points you receive. Bank rewards is also a good way to get points as well.

I don't agree as I use my credit card and get more miles in a day than 3 flights would give me.
