I read this today online that a 22 year old mother shock her 3 month old so hard it killed him because he was crying and she was trying to play farmville on Facebook. Really this 22 year old couldn't get up and just calm her son down and then go back to playing or not play at all. Come on what has the world come to where people hurt there kids over the silliest things a stupid game on the computer is more important then loving and paying attention to your own child.

Not every woman who has a baby is a true mother! Not every woman has the patience it takes or the maturity. And not every woman can realize they are not mother material until it is too late. It is so sad.

I'm not sure that its her case every case is different some times its just a bad person that wasn't meant to have kids and can't take the job and others its due to postpartum.

I don't think it quite goes that way. Many women think they can handle being a mom till they have a little one and lot of things that happen like this is because of postpartum depression and the lack of the women communicated with anyone about it. All women get it just we all get to different degrees after having a baby and it can last for a years some times.

Geez. I guess her life on Farmville was more important than her baby's life . . . what kind of a mom is that?!! I didn't read about it - what did that mother shock her son with . . . that sounds like total abuse? Yes, babies that age will cry alot - and that's what babies do - it's a parents duty to pay attention to their babies. So people like who can't take it shouldn't become parents in the first place - sheesh!! Poor little guy . . .

True. Yah, I know it can be rough having a very little one - it's tough to deal with the crying especially if you can't figure out why they're crying and how to calm them down . Sleepless nights, general fatigue, postpartum . . . sure that can cause mommy brain - it happens to all of us. Oh - SHOOK - sorry I read it wrong - now I see. I remember taking those baby classes before my little one was born - I remember learning all about that shaken baby syndrome .. . and that would include throwing a baby up in the air as the brain can hit the skull. Perhaps she didn't know about that - but still I think it's inexcusable. I didn't really have that postpartum depression (or at least I don't think). But I know some of my friends had to get on medication because they did. It's sad, but like I said, inexcusable.

Good thing I've gone through having one kid so now I"m ready for my son to be born where I know I can handle it a lot better then I did when a year ago when I had my daughter. I would never shake my baby to stop the crying because I know what it does to baby's and young toddlers as well. All women get it some is very very mild and others are really extreme most women fly right by with it and have some mood swings. I never had medication but I did have a friend that had to after having her first she was on anti depresses because she was thinking about hurting herself and would hit her partner because of how bad she had it. I agree its inexcusable, but there is more to the store then we are being told. At least this time for me my husband will be home more often then he was with our daughter.

Well if you think of it there are times where all mom's just want the crying to stop even when it has nothing to do with a game. I've been there with my daughter when she was much younger. That thought did cross my mind but never acted on it. It doesn't make her a bad person just that postpartum is so hard to deal with after having a baby and you don't always no how to correctly address and some women don't think they even have it when all women get it. It'll make you feel, think and act stupidly some times even when you don't want to hurt anyone including yourself. Even now my 15 month old daughter it can drive me insane up the wall if that is all she does all day. She didn't shock him she shook him that is a big differences. Bouncing a baby will get them to calm down but shaking that will do it too but because of there heads and brains being so small still and growing bigger and bigger it just moves all around causing trauma to the brain. Some kid die from it others, have brain damage or on life support for a long time. It's called Shaken baby syndrome. A person won't know if they can handle having a baby till they have a child and go through the motions of knowing how hard it can be some days. Watching other people with kids they make it seem easy from the outside looking in but till your in there shoes and have to deal with the daily things of taking care of a baby people don't know how stressful it is on you physically and emotionally as a person.

This is one of the most ridiculous and absurd crime news I ever heard today. There are many crimes involving mother and their babies and it's very sad to hear one. Yes, it's so sad to know that such mothers can do harm to their own kids. She deserves the jail....:xx

Well I don't know if she needs to go to jail or not they have to look at several things was she on something, was she suffering from postpartum that all moms get after having a new baby and she didn't know what to do and didn't see anyone about it or is just a bad person in general.

You know, I'm really passed the point of being shocked by something like this really happening. This wasn't the first time that I heard something like this happened, whether it be lethal like this or just plain neglect where the child was ignored. Then again, as much as I like to blame Facebook for this, there are rather people who would be doing something else, whether getting angry that their child woke them up when they were sleeping or something like that. I think we are at the point in society where we need to find someway to regulate people having children. Granted, we are going to have some people claiming human rights violation but there are people out there who do not have the emotional or mature capacity. Having a child is not getting a new dishwasher, it is a very big responsibility. There needs to be some kind of license to be allowed to reproduce after rigorous testing but good luck at that happening.

Of course its not the first or last. Things like this have been going on for years. I'm not blaming facebook or games or anything like that. But people assume when someone does this it makes them crazy or something when not all are women that do this are crazy. Some have postpartum which does affect a lot of things and all women get it after having a baby it's just that some of us deal with it correctly and others just snap and do things like this. Not sure if that is this case or not because I don't know every much then what they would say. I think we need to regulate people having children this could have happened to any new mom. It's stressful having a newborn and even if its not playing a game but doing something you have to some crying can be annoying. I've been there where my daughter when she was younger would only cry some times all day it would drive me crazy. I had some crazy thoughts back then but never acted on them. Just did what a lot of other mothers that I talked to do leave the baby alone and walk away as much as its annoying to listen to your child cry some times mommy just needs a break even if she just needs two seconds to cry and then try to calm down the baby.

A person wouldn't do that if having a child was planned. There are so many things that a mother can do to an unwanted child. I believe this girl is undergoing depression (could be because she's a single parent) after giving birth and she reached to a point where she can't take it anymore. What she did was absolutely wrong and she should pay for what she has done. She also needs medical attention. Putting her to jail won't help her condition. Once she's free, she might do that again.

A person can do that even with a child is planned have you heard of postpartium all women that have kids go through carrying them for months get its to different degress and it affects you in many many ways. Some in ways that cause you to do things like this, you don't plan it but planning and not planning kids have nothing to do with it. Because you saying that should mean that my parents should have been hurting me and my brother, and the same with me and my daughter and having my son. I didn't plan them so does that make me a bad mother? Does that mean I'm going to hurt them in any way shape or from? How do you know she is a single mother depression just doesn't hit people that alone taking care of kids it's married women, or women with partners there. You don't know what will help and maybe what others think will help will be wrong too most likely. Jail can be wrong going and seeing someone can be wrong too. I've been there I've had postpartum with my daughter and I'm going to have again in about 19 weeks but that doesn't mean I'm going to do things to anyone or anybody for that matter. Last time I cried a lot and took a lot of things out on my husband but that was because I had to do everything by myself all day and all night because of his job. I hated his job but I like the one he has now he isn't gone all of the time and it'll be easier this time around.

I was just stating the possible reason why she act like that. It's not really applicable to anyone but it could be one reason. And I didn't even say that I'm sure that she's a single parent. I said she could be undergoing depression because she "could be" a single parent.. If you were hurt because of what I said, then I'm sorry. I was only talking about this girl and not anyone else.. I don't understand why you are relating yourself to this girl knowing that you guys are not the same.

People are just taught in the reverse way that the virtual world is important than what is real around us. It is so pathetic incident you have said. Many people are more craze in those games. Even I was earlier but not this extent. I have heard people even having dozens of facebook accounts for playing games.

A game is a game it doesn't make people do anything at all. That stuff like that isn't really true. She is either suffering from postpartum or there is something wrong with her which would make her react like that over some crying.

This actually happened quite a while ago. I know the mother was arrested but I'm not sure about what happened to her. Personally I think she should get life in prison. No game is worth the life of your child. I too enjoy playing a few games on Facebook(Not Farmville), but whenever my niece & nephews come to visit I spend my time with them. Only when they go off to sleep do my sister & I check on our games. If I had to choose between spending time w/ my family or playing games on Facebook I know for a fact that I would much rather spend time w/ them. Obviously this is a woman who should have never became a parent in the first place.

This store was just recently posted so it must have happen that long ago or its another one with the same age but different women you never. Yes I agree no child life is worth a game on the computer. I'm a mom that is year old then this women but I don't get mad at my 15 month old when I want to do something. there are times in the day where I can do as I want like when she is napping or some times when she is playing on her own because she feels like just playing with her toys. I don't get to spend that much time on facebook any more like I use to because I have a child.

I don't know where it happen. You would have to go and find the article and look it up or find a segment on it online some where its out there. Mostly likely she is suffering from postpartum which suck to have because every women gets it after having a baby just to different degrees. Nothing is ever more important then your kids next to having food, and stuff that they need to life. To me a game is a game you can play it any time and it should be on baby time as I call it. When the little ones are sleeping.

She doesn't deserve to be a mother. No child deserves to be treated like that. The world is so full of crazy people now, it's not funny! And for pete's sake, farmville and other facebook games are not even worth the time. A mother shouldn't be playing such games anymore, if she can help it, she ought to be more responsible.

I've never said it was funny. But we don't know the whole cause so you shouldn't judge just yet. Not all people are crazy someone have postpartum and if anyone who has had kids would know it can make you feel all kind of things think and say all kind of things that you don't always mean or want to do. I'm not going to say she doesn't deserve to be a mom with out knowing all the info which they don't always share with us public. What she did was wrong and should be punished for it correctly of course. A child life should never be taken away because of some stupid online game.

Too sad that almost anybody can be a mother, but responsibility doesn't come with it. At her age she should have known what she was doing, so she clearly didn't care at all

The age has nothing to do with what she did. A lot of women suffer from postpartum which could be the cause of her actions. A lot of women get that after having a baby, well all women get it it's just that we all deal with it differently at 3 months she would still be dealing with that. We don't know if she was seeing someone about it or not. Anyone that has it should talk about it with there doctor to see weather you need more attention to that matter or not. That will make you do anything from hurting people, saying things, and having really bad mood swings. Weather she is has it or not I do not know. I'm 23 and I have one with another one on the way and some times you I get upset but I don't take on my child.

nowadays there is so much similar problem with this, the parents addicted on the computer game and didn't take care on their child. so we have to control ourselves, even how much we like to stick to the computer, but we also have to take care for others that are surrounding us =)

The game its self didn't make her hurt her child that was herself either because she has postpartum depression or she is suffering from something else. Games don't make you hurt people. I've been playing them for years and I have a kid.

This is just sad. Online games really starting to kill now huh ? This is a lesson for everyone that they should not ignore a crying child. As a gamer myself, i don't enjoy those facebook games.

No online games don't kill. Where did I say that. I said the mother killed her son over the fact that he was crying and she wanted to play a game on fb. Kids will cry and some times you do need to ignore your child's cry babies cry for all kind of reason but at that age 3 months they are crying about all kind of things. I have 15 month there is a lot of things I would want to do and some times that means letting her cry it out because at her age she doesn't need my attention like she did at 3 months. I'm not a gamer but I do enjoy a game if could but I can't because my daughter doesn't like when i play games but its okay for her dad to do so. She'll sit there since she was 6 month old watching him play games on the tv now she pretends to do so herself with her own little remote. Games don't kill people kill other people over all kind of things. If your a women and you just had a baby you get postpartum which is no fun having it will make you say, do, feel things that normally you won't feel or would do. That is why is important for a new mom weather its her first child or not to talk to a doctor when they get those feelings or mood swings that are too often.

Wow, it sounds like someone was really addicted to the internet... she seems incredibly immature to have a child, and raise one too. People get so annoyed by the silliest things now, it makes you scratch your head and wonder what kind of people are living on this planet!

I don't think this action is of an immature person. Many factors has to be thought of before jumping to that thought. Like one does she have postpartum because that will affect any mother of a newborn. Was she on something was she not ect. I've been there where my daughter was that age crying and crying and wouldn't stop no matter what I did. It drove me crazy I didn't do anything to her. Instead I was sitting there crying with her because I just couldn't figure out what was wrong if it was me or her. That was my postpartum that was talking to me making me have crazy mood swings.

Yes , thats the world right now , and computers are getting people crazy , we are getting so addicted to this things, I get a little angry when i am seatting here and my kids start asking me things , You know , but , then I just get up and say to myself: come on kids are more important than the computer or whatever I am doing. When I decided to have kids I took a very mature desition , to grow up them very healthy phisically and menthally. So, I need to work for it , I will never hurt my child . That girl got so addicted to play and she lost her mind , she didnt mean to be a mother. , maybe was accidentally and irresponsible pregnant. So , sad to hear that a mother can kill her own blood.
