How do you distinguish what is good humor from what is bad humor? How about comedians who uses bad humor to be funny, what do you think about them? Are you sometimes guilty of bad humor?

I think it depends one our sense of humour what bad or good humour is. For example, I love puns, but some people consider it really cheap. But at the same time, apart from when it's really performed well, I don't like offending humour (racist, anti-gay) and slapstick, and I clearly hate humour which is making fun of people with disablities.

I see your point, and sometimes the funniest humors are those that are not afraid to attack certain categories of people. I also think that making fun with disabled people could be one of the worst types of bad humor, in my opinion.

Good humour and bad humour can be distiguished from each other. A humour becomes a good one if they are able to make us laught and now a days most of th film has bad humour in it. I wonder why they can't make them good.

The funny thing about bad humor, and I'm ashamed to admit it, is that they could sometimes be very funny...even hilarious at times. Like when you watch for example candid camera and america's funniest videos and those types of shows that show people who got hurt, fall down in a funny way, people attacked by animals in a funny way although the person is hurt in the event, and similar cases and when I watch them I sometimes cry out laughing to my share...lol. Anyway, maybe as long as the person who got hurt didn't die from it, then maybe it would be okay to laugh at such tv programs...what do you think?

The only factor that I would consider as bad humour would be if it involves another person and having fun at that person's cost is simply a no no for me and would strongly come under the category of bad humour. Everything else would be good humour provided there is an element of sense in them!

I do believe it the same way you explained here. Anyway, I see a lot of comedians become popular by using bad humor with the knack of humiliating others for the sake of getting laughs...why do you think they could become popular with these types of bad humor or jokes when we know for certain that it is backed up by meanness?

Good humor can certainly make one smile and feel light, but bad humor can upset one; spoil mood lol Prof.Dr. B.Saraf. PhD

Well, just to begin with, most often, in my opinion, not us, that is not fully dependent on our willingness to be in good or bad humor. For example, to you I quote my own case it simple enough to me to cheer me up and thus be in a good mood. But equally, it takes very little negative, "drag me into the abyss" and therefore to be taken from melancholic humor. Having said that then the humor factor, varies from person to person.

I think I understand somehow what you're talking about. For example, with many close friendships we can see them saying really joking in a mean way with below-the-belt criticisms which for most observers would be very well branded as bad humor, but to those friends it is not at all offensive but they even find it funny because they know their friend said it in gesture of fun and that their closeness allows them to say the most intimate insults they know about the other when they know they liked each other and not meant it to hurt the other. Having said this, so do you mean the intentions of the one making the joke may determine if it would be good humor or bad humor? For example, if the humor is meant to humiliate another, that is bad but if the humor seems humiliating but the intentions are just making fun with a close friend who won't mind it, and even finds it funny this won't be in the category of bad humor. Am I close to what you were trying to convey?

Good humor is purely for fun with no intent of hurting anyone just to be funny, but bad humor are those that are offensive at any different level, and is intentional. People are different when it comes to perceiving humor, so what is offensive to others may not be offensive to some, but bad humors comes in the picture if there is intent to offense someone. Comedians who uses bad humor are always a turn off, I make it a point to avoid watching them t all cost.

Good humor is when you know people can laugh all they want without even hurting other people inside. Bad humor is when you are trying to bring example of people who are not-so-good-looking and making fun of them. It's like hurting them and pinpointing that they are a bad example of a human being and not to be treated like one. Yeah, at first it can be funny but then try to think of the person's feelings. Not all of your jokes can be fun. We have to stop doing such nonsense jokes if we know how to put things and think of things which can be worth a joke without hurting other people...
