The roomie had to run off to the doctor's office to get the script for physical therapy for her arm. On the way home, we stopped and picked up medicine at the drug store. Then she suggested getting a Frosty - you know, one of those ice cream thingies from Wendy's. Well, the chocolate Frosty machine is STILL broken at the nearby Wendy's so... that was that... the roomie wanted the vanilla one, but I think its hardly worth it without the chocolate! So, we went to the movies, and on the way home, she suggested a Blizzard - Dairy Queen - of a different Wendy's if I knew of one. Well, close to the theater was a DQ so we went by there... and their credit card machines was broken! Say WHAT? Well, we didn't have cash, so we started on home, and then I said "I know of another Dairy Queen" so we went by there. I asked if their machine was working - yes, and we FINALLY got our ice cream treat! You ever had to work that hard for a treat?

I can't say that I have worked that hard for a treat. I have had to go to three different stores for across two towns for the work shirt I needed. And what's worse I didn't even keep that for a whole month because the company got bought and I was laid off!

I know, the shirt is really comfy though, its a dockers shirt. So it wasn't all that bad!

HaHa, you have the craziest things happen to you. It sounds like you were working and trying to get your paycheck, lol! No, I can't recall anything this nutty happening to me, but I usually carry just a bit of cash on me along with my debit card. Very happy to hear you finally got your treat!

If I hadn't cleaned out my bag I would've had the cash, but don't you know I had done it just before we went to the movie!

I wasn't going to go more than a block out of my way, well, I'm sure you know about "blocks" sometimes... but it wasn't too out of my way, I sure wasn't going way out of my way - like to Baskin & Robbins....

Can't remember right now, but it's happened. I remember having a shittty day, and coming to Swcond Cup, where I'm sitting now, only to discover the espresso machine's busted. Aaarrrggghhh.

That's bad! Like the Frosty machine being busted at Wendy's!

My favorite place for a treat was a local ice cream parlor. They made the best hot fudge sundaes that I have ever had. They made their own sauce and it had the super great taste and a bit of a bite that dark chocolate has. We would save our spare change during the month so that we could have one. Having been made weight conscious by my parents, I would always feel a touch guilty about having a hot fudge sundae, even though they were so great and it wasn't something I had more than once a month. It would never fail, I would have that delectable treat with the bananas, home made ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, cherry on top and the pitcher of hot fudge delivered to my table...I would luxuriate in the anticipation of that first bite, drizzling the fine lines of hot fudge across the mounds of white mouth watering coldness. I would dip my spoon into the dish, collecting a bit of fudge and ice cream with just the right amount of whipped cream on my spoon...I would slowly lift the spoon to my mouth, which was watering in anticipation of that first cold, sweet, heavenly confection meeting my tongue when...a person weighing 400 pounds would walk by the window. I have nothing against larger people, but it would cause the guilt to surface and totally ruin that delectable treat! It wouldn't fail either!!! I knew that when we would go for our hot fudge sundae there would be someone who would come along and ruin it... Unfortunately I didn't get my father's genes where I could eat a large bag of potato chips and dip and with one lusty fart the calories would be gone. When I lived in Thailand the biggest treat a person could get was fresh strawberries. I was pregnant at the time and craved strawberries. We would hear that the store had gotten a shipment and would race for the produce section, but the strawberries would always be gone by the time we got there. I didn't get fresh strawberries until I returned to the States after 9 months of living in Thailand.

I guess the secret is to sit with your back to the window... But I hear ya about wanting something and not getting them... there are times I just crave something and can't get it.
