Have you ever heard of Sloppy Joes, sometimes it will be in a can, otherwise you can make it yourself. But it consists of hamburger and peppers, onions and other spices. I don't know wall the ingredients but if you look up Sloppy Joes or even homemade Sloppy Joe's you might find the right sauce for your hot dogs at your cookout. I love Sloppy Joes on their own on a hamburger bun but the peppers in it makes me tummy upset. So I can't have it. I would just eat it on the hamburger buns if I could, as i don't think hotdogs are good for my tummy either. So much food makes me ill as I get older. I hope you have the right sauce though before your cookout time, and hope it is a success.

A home made hotdog sauce. Well, here is a good one: 1 lb ground beef, cooked 1 medium onion, small diced 1 tab chili seasoning 1 tab mustard 1/4 cup cider vinegar 1/4 cup white sugar 1 large bottle, Heinz ketchup Brown hamburger in a medium saucepan; while meat is browning, dice up onion and add to meat. Cook meat and onion until no longer pink. (If meat is fatty, drain but leave some grease for flavor.) Add the chili seasoning and mustard to meat mixture, while keeping a low flame under saucepan, stir. Add vinegar and sugar. Stir this mixture slightly. While stirring, add ketchup a little at a time to desired consistency. Cook for 45 - 50 minutes on low heat, stirring often. Note: If you cook the sauce uncovered, it will become somewhat thicker, if you have added too much ketchup.

I saute sliced onions in olive oil then add a little sugar and tomato sauce and let that simmer. Then I put that on my hot dogs. Try to get it like New York vendors

I make a homemade chili without the beans. Sometimes I add a bottle of A-1 Steak Sauce to it. You can even buy a can of beanless chili and add the steak sauce to it. I like to top my hot dogs with chili, onions, mustard and slaw. Sometimes I eat it with a fork. Yummy!
