Scary a little

So the house sold the other day, for OVER the asking price, if you can believe that. So hopefully it will appraise for that amount, and we can move on with our lives.
But I'm looking around this area for houses in my price range, and there aren't any. Except for short sales, that is. And those could take forever to get approved. And I have a drop dead date of July 27th to get out of this house. Yikes...
So I am, again, looking at the unappetizing prospect of having to move twice. Whoopee...
But I guess it will be worth it to start my new life and get away from you know who and all that.
How've you all been?
(my boyfriend is awesome, btw)

So are you and the ex hubs still under the same roof or did he move already? Has it been awkward bringing a new boyfriend into the mix? I mean bringing him home could be awkward with the old hubs around.
Hope it all works out well for you Dawn.

That's great. Is the old hubs jealous or giving you grief over it? I remember he was trying to keep you all together in earlier discussions.

Things like that are always a bit scary, but sometimes exciting at the same time. I am glad you were able to get more money.

I´m so happy you sold the house. That means so many things: other house, other life, move on in general. I´m so glad you have a BF too. We hope to see a glimpe of him in a picture
. How are the kids accepting all this?

Congrats on your sale...in this market that isn't always easy. I wish you well on your next house...that is always the challenge when selling,i.e. will you find a well priced house to buy. Yet you have other reasons to move and I wish you all the best!!!

Congratulations! Well, July 27th is a way away yet. I think it is worth it. I know i did the same thing. I was proud of myself. I was very organized and everything put in the storage unit just right so I could find things if I needed to. I would find one with a security date and home security system incase he wants to be overly friendly. Glad to hear your boyfriend is awesome. Have fun! All well here.

Glad to hear you are doing well! Hope the kids are doing well, too! I know what is like to have to move out of an apartment, with not warning! The last place I lived in was above a store. They sold stuff like dog and cat supplies. When they got out of business and sold the place I had only a month to move out! I was out of a job at the time and I had to beg money from my dad to pay for my 1st month's rent at the new place! It took two more months to find another job, which I am still at! I hope never to go through that again! It is scarey as hell!

Congratulations on getting over asking price. In this economy you are lucky you sold it at all. What are short sales? Maybe you will get lucky and only have to move once, the way things are, it is a buyers market. I hate to move, but I guess when you look at it as an opportunity to start over it's not so bad! Good Luck!

OVER the asking price?! That's great!
A friend of mine just bought a house. He said that it's a buyer's market out there (and it's about time that I upgraded).
I hope you already found a place. Or at least have some prospects. I'd hate it too when I would have to live in boxes for a few weeks/months and then move again.
(congrats on the bf too!)

Awesome awesome you sold for MORE than you were asking? How does that work? Wow, what a real estate agent you must have. Congratulations!

Great news about the house! Not so great about moving twice... My mom sold her house on the first day it was on the market, rented it from the new owner for a month, but then had to put her stuff into storage because she wasn't able to move into her new place until Sept 1st.
She went and stayed with my brother in Colorado for the 2 months...
Funny story:
Someone said to him that he was really nice to let her live with him for the summer - and he got to tell them that she was homeless...

That is wonderful Dawn, I am so happy for you. Yes moving twice would be a pain, but if that is your only option, it is better than nothing and I hope you find the "perfect" place..

Good to hear someone put a bid one the home. I can't imagine trying to sell a house in this economy. I hate packing. I know you've been busy doing that for a month or 2 now. At least the portion of the mission should be near the end. Just finding a place to live is the challenge now. Happy house hunting. Best Wishes!
