Each day as I wake up I make sure that the first thoughts in my mind are thanks for another day and the ability to smile. Then I start to put together what I know will be the requirements of the day. Life being what it is, one must allow for changes and most of these seem to be bad. However I am convinced that it is the irritation of having to change our plans that makes us so much more aware of the bad instead of the good little things that happen. Think of how you react when you hit no red, (stop) lights on your way to work, and thus arrive a little early against your reaction to hiting each and every red light on the drive and being a little late. These occurances are not within your control and both are minor things that happen each day, but your reaction is totally within your control. So if you are early enjoy a few mins to chat and enjoy your extra time. But if you are late, just hurry yourself along and chat a little less to start your day. Blessings and keep smiling.

I'm glad for you. I really want to be like that but most of the time everything seems so different. I get a lot of mistakes which leads to troubles with my sisters. Grr. It really sucks to start a day with some feeling which is not good. I wish that someday when I have my own life alone or have a family on my own, I could change this things up. To have a much better and wonderful morning to a have a meaningful day.

When we live with people we form many habits. This makes change more difficult, but you must remember if you want change, you are the one who must do it. This is the only control you have over any relationship, The changes must come from you, how the others respond you cannot control. Blessings

One of the things that I live by is the statement that I can't control what others do or some of the things that happen in my life BUT I can control how I react to them and what I make of it. Great advice.

Life is full of many things that will rather test of patience, to see how we are going to be react. Granted, there are too many times where the stress really can get to the better of us. Far too often to say the very least, but I just really try and adjust everything. Really just move right into the next moment right of my life and just take a nice deep breath. It is all too easy to get crushed right underneath the blistering negativity that life can really contain. There are things that we deal with that sadly are not what we are going to expect. But it is now the things that we have to deal with, but rather how we really deal with those individual things right out there. Just go with the flow and see where life just takes you.

There is many thing in the life we can't control. But what life we live depend on the way we deal with it. I totally agree with what you said. Those mirro unhappy things happen everyday, If we can control our emotion and keep smiling, we have more time to enjoy every moment of life.

I think it is human nature to always remember the bad things. They seem to be the things we do remember the most. They have an uncanny way of sticking out. And they always cover up the good things that have happened. Thats mainly because we are not happy about what happened. We have a need and a want for things to go as we want them to. But life is a lottery. You just never know.

You are right, we have many many choices. It does more good to adapt to them than to stand around and complain.

Hi savypat, That's a good way to start the day and I agree that our reaction to what life throws at us is within our control. Recently, I was getting ready to go to a dinner theatre, and at the last moment everything seemed to go wrong, it was like hitting all the red lights. It made for an upsetting few minutes but the evening turned out fine. Blessings.

Hi savypat, Thank you for this discussion. It reminds me of a simple principle in life. Control what you can. My husband hates to wait. Waiting for the bus, the food to arrive at a restaurant, or worse in a queue, he'd get rather irritated. I can choose to be affected by his reactions, but sometimes I just choose to ignore it and occupy myself with things to buy time, for example read the papers on my phone, check my email, maybe tweet about my hubby's behaviour or chat with him (futile effort!) We all have choices to make in life. We can choose to become aware of things we can and cannot control. We can choose to make the day a better one for everyone!

I agree with you that this is a much better way of living. I am trying to do it since I discovered that I had a lymphoma. Life started to have another meaning and so did time. So now I take my time to be happy for a good day and expect a good day tomorrow and not much more. I have had luck with my illness and I´m living 3 months at a time at the most.
