Some people wonder why my house is always a mess.

Well, it's because I hate housework. I mean I HATE housework. I hate to dust, I hate to vacuum, I hate to wash dishes, I just hate it. That's why I don't usually do it. It's not a priority to me, I can live in a little dust. I know it's important to my husband, so I try to keep it clean a bit in here. Now, I'm not saying my place is a pigsty, but you can usually write your name in the dust on my coffee table! And I've almost always got dirty dishes in the sink from the night before. One thing I noticed today after dusting and vacuuming today is that it looks really good when it's sparkling clean. I wonder if we'd appreciate it as much if it was always looking like this? Do you keep a spotless house or do you do better things with your time than worry about cleaning???

My house is very similar. The things we used every day are really clean, but the other places get very dusty. Today I noticed dust gathering on top of my baseboards and thought...I shoudl clean that. But I know I wont. As long as my house is clean enough to have guests over without worring they'll call the "Hoarders" people in on me, I consider it clean enough.

I do not clean and dust near enough, not that I have better things to do, but I do have other things to do. I really need to get my life organized, then maybe I would stop losing things.

Nah, I don't usually lose things, it's just very unorganized to anyone but me. Sometimes I wish I had nothing better to do than clean, but unfortunately, I can usually find just about anything else to do!

That's quite a nice layer of dust on your coffee table to be able to write your name. Funny though. I'm pretty bad at cleaning my bathroom. But when I do I love how it smells and sparkles. Makes me wanna keep it clean all the time. You know how that goes. Feels healthier too.

Well I have to admit my house is not spotless. With two kids that is almost impossible. i just get wore out before my house gets clean. After having two kids run around my house I also take care of other people and things in the neighborhood so I dont have time to keep it spotless.

I can imagine. After working all day, the last thing I want to do is clean. I'm tired and just want to relax. Wish I could part with a few bucks and hire a cleaning service!

hi reinydawn, lol reading your post really made me smile...but to answer your question....No I do not keep a spotless house. Its not that I really hate housework its the fact that a lot of the time I just don't feel like doing anything,, and I mean not anything...however I haven't been able to write anything in the dust on any furniture...and there maybe a dish or two in my in myy sink from time to time... But I agree with you it looks really nice when its clean....

I'm a clean freak and love a spotless place and that's hard to have with 2 homeschooling kids. My husband's the straight opposite and wouldn't mind living in a pigsty! We argue about it all the time. I need the place clean before I can do ANYTHING constructive and he cribs about me prioritizing the cleaning over the other things I SHOULD be doing. Luckily, I can afford to have help. She comes in early in the morning and we both clean together while hubby and the kids are asleep. I also cook breakfast then and by the time the boys are up, I'm happy and ready for a new day:-)

My house is pretty clean but by no means is it spotless. If I don't feel like doing dishes at night then I just do them the next day. I work full time and take care of my grandson who is 14 months old on all my evenings off. I have him at least 18 hours a week and usually much more. I also have an 18 yr old who graduates this year so lots of stuff going on there too. I would love to have a spotless house but I honestly just don't have the time and sometimes...just taking a break is more important.

I hate housework, too. But I love the look and feel of a clean house. I do dishes twice a week and every 2 weeks or so I spend an hour vacuuming, dusting and cleaning the bathroom. I live alone so there's not that much to do but I begrudge every minute I spend doing it!

I think that really unless a person obsessively cleans, it will always be technically be a bit dirty. And by obsession I mean so far to the extreme that is rather insanity. To the point where nothing you do is clean, and that is pretty much all you do with your life. Which really is going to drive more people nuts than make them happy. Granted, unless people rather just look for things to nitpick, it would take an extreme lack of cleaning, going many days or a week before it becomes something that is absurd. There is always something to do, nothing stays clean. Unless you live in a bubble, it is not going to stay picture perfect, even for the briefest moment right out there. I think that as long as it is habitable and things are mostly organized, that's what counts. If people don't like that, then who really cares, honestly, it's not their house.

My house is tiny so it's not a problem to keep it clean. I don't dust like I should, I will admit that. I keep the dishes clean and the floor swept and I vacuum when I can ( I have to borrow my mom's vacuum..she happens to be my neighbor). If I had my own vacuum I would vacuum everyday because the kitty cat tracks litter sometimes. I don't deep clean but I do the daily stuff.
