I prefer not to dwell on the 'negatives' too much. Most of the criticism of MyLot tends to come from relatively new users who have either misunderstood what MyLot is for or who expect it to be something other than it is. From time to time, MyLot has server problems which make it (very rarely) inaccessible or give problems when trying to post something. These problems are always temporary and the solution is always to be patient and not to 'sound off' about it too much! Otherwise, the 'negatives' of MyLot are mostly not due to MyLot itself but to the negativity of a very small proportion of users. The problem is either resolved when those people realise by themselves that MyLot is not for them or when Admin decides it for them.

Many newcomers seem to think that MyLot needs to change its user interface. I agree, to a certain extent, that not everything is very easy to understand at first and some things are downright counter-intuitive. The same, however, might be said of many websites (including Facebook, which, in my view, is MUCH harder to navigate than MyLot). It always takes a while to get really familiar with a website and MyLot is no exception. Once you have been here a while, however, you will begin to understand the logic behind the design and to realise that there is some logic to it being the way that it is. As far as the name goes, the domain was originally set up and owned by a gardening company and 'My Lot' meant 'My garden' or 'My plot of land'. It was bought (in 2005) by Waseringtech for their proposed social discussion site, presumably mostly because it was a short and memorable name and because the word 'lot' can mean 'a group of people' as well as 'a plot of land' and 'a collection of things', it is not inappropriate ... it's certainly more relevant than Orkut (which is just someone's first name)!

None for me so far... Except maybe when the glitches happen too often or too long before they get fixed. And there are some side effects too; for me, this site is highly addictive...

Yeah, balance is the best thing. Even too much of a good thing may still lead to adversity. Take water, for example...

I have for a long time seen one negative here on myLot which it seems will never be changed. Before we can drive a vehicle on a public highway we have to learn how to drive, the basic mechanics of the vehicle, respect for fellow drivers and we have to practice too. Once we reach an understanding of how things work we are then given a licence and can take to the roads among other more experienced drivers. Here on myLot that is not the case. There is nothing to stop anyone joining and posting within a few minutes of registering, regardless of whether they know what to do, regardless of whether they are aware that if their post violates the guidelines it will be removed causing losses to others if they have participated too. MyLot could overcome this in several ways. They could make it so that new users have to participate in discussions started by others until they reach a certain number of posts. They could make it so that new users are unable to post links to avoid spammers joining and abusing the discussion area. Not all new users start without reading the information that myLot provides but sadly many do, causing disappointment both for themselves and for those who interact with them. This is the only negative that I have on my list that needs mentioning.

I need to focus on the positives more than the negatives. It words better for me and can usually find more. However if I had to make a list, I would say for me I would like it better if more members replied back more often to discussion they create. I realize however we can not demand such a thing only request. More member interaction make for better discussions.
