There are times you really wonder about your cats, this morning is one of them. Willy is the laid back of the brothers (Khuay was the one I thought was a coward...boy was I wrong!). He doesn't get into too many strange predicaments, or does really strange things. He is my companion who curls up beside me and sleeps as close as possible, waiting patiently for that pet to come from my busy hands. He will wake up at times, jump up on my chest and look me in the eyes adoringly and purr his question "do you love me?" Then he will lay back down and go back to sleep. I can count on him to stay out of trouble and not be the laugh riot that Khuay is. So this morning was totally unexpected and that much more precious.
We're going to town today, I have a blood test (YUCK! I normally don't mind them but this one I have to fast for. I normally am not hungry first thing in the morning but when I have to fast I am always ravenous!
) So to keep my mind off food I do things like find Michael's coupons (Michael's is a craft supply store near where I live, and I don't skip taking advantage of the 40% off coupons plus I print extras to give to other customers.) So, I stumbled into the office and grabbed the printer and set it up on the floor beside the couch. (I work on the laptop in the family room in front of the TV, I love watching educational programing while I work on the computer. Right now I'm watching Scooby Doo!!
) I pulled up the coupons I saved in Word last night and set up to print. About that time, Willy, showing some kitty curiosity, wandered up to check out the printer. At the same time it started making noises and started printing. Willy was enthralled. His kitty face was deep in the "out hole" where the printed pages come out. "Now where is that little mouse making all that noise????" The printer paused between pages and Willy stopped looking for that little mousey that was making all the noise. He turned his back on the printer and sat down, I'm sure he was scratching his head mentally. Willy was deep in thought when the printer started printing again, and then a printed coupon page shot out and tapped him on his back. Willy shot straight up, every hair on end!!! "OH MY GOSH THE MOUSEY GOT ME, HE GRABBED ME, HE TOUCHED ME, OH GOSH I'M A GONNER!!!"
When Willy landed on the floor again, he whipped around, raised his paw, and thumped the daylights out of the printer. Another page shot out at him and he thumped it again. As each of the five pages came out he thumped that miserable mousey that had the guts to actually touch him!! When the printer quit printing Willy summoned up all his courage, jumped on top of the computer, leaned over the edge and peeked in the hole where the mousey was shooting things out at him. He then reached down and into the darkness of the hole, when at that point the printer carriage returned and sent Willy the brave scrambling for cover.
Ya gotta love cats! They can be so calming, loving, sedate creatures. Then something happens and they totally lose their cool and you totally lose your's from laughing at their antics! I thank God each day for giving me 7 wonderful companion animals to love, protect, and enjoy.

Hahaha
, I remember those days when I had cats like that. I had to visualize everything in my mind that you typed about Willie and the "printer mouse" and it made my day. And believe me at this point in my life I need a laugh. Cats are just so darn funny sometimes. I wish You could have gotten that on film and made a youtube vid out of it.

One promise I have made myself is to get a video camera so that I can start filming Willy and Khuay's antics. They are so priceless and hysterical. And cats (and dogs) can manage to be so funny without even trying!!!
I am glad that Willy was able to make your day and give you a much needed laugh! It seems like my guys seem to know when my MyLot friends need a pick-me-up and a good laugh; that's when they find some kind of mischief to get into.

Now that I can picture, because my printer will also shoot out a page, and then pause only to shoot out another without warning..Poor Willy, he must have thought this mouse was super fast in order to touch him and then disappear so quick..

These are the times that I would love to be in the cats heads and find out what they are thinking! I know that since last Tuesday Willy has changed so much in just a few days. He is very serious about being at my side night and day, and is checking on me and at night I have to tell him that I'm okay before he will lay back down at my side for his cat nap. It is now his job to be nurse in residence for me. It is so wonderful to see how cats (and dogs) will know there is a difference in their human being and change from a happy-go-lucky critter to a personal guardian and protector.
That printer has to baffle him something fierce! He just can't figure out where that darn mousey is hiding and how he can touch him and disappear so fast! Plus the printer doesn't even smell like a mouse either....humm, mousey ghost from hunts past?

Your discussion comes at the perfect time. I needed a bit of de stressing. I can see him doing this, really I can.

I'm so glad that Willy knew you needed de-stressing! He seems to have that built in sense. Since I was finally diagnosed with the heart problem he now sleeps right on top of my left side, as if his weight will keep anything bad from happening to my heart. Several times during the night he will get up, walk up the pillow, get nose to nose with me and "Yeow???" He won't lay back down until I tell him that I am okay. Today when I took a nap he was right beside me, Bill came down the hallway to get me for our ride and Willy wouldn't leave my side until I told him he could. I now have a "guard cat". I get the feeling if I had any problem he would claw through glass to get help for me!!!
I adore all my animals for their various abilities, but Willy is the most loved because he wasn't a pretty kitten and the granddaughters wouldn't play with him like they did Khuay. (I used to call Willy "Baggy Eyes" because he had such horrible bags under his eyes, like he hadn't slept for five years!!!) He is such a sweet loving individual that is my constant companion. I think if given the chance he would travel everywhere with me like a dog.

Cats are naturally nocturnal, because that is when most of their prey is out and running around. Willy is laid back both night and day, and for him to do something that funny is so unusual and worth sharing with my kitty followers.
As I just posted, Willy has now taken over being my guardian angel because of my recent diagnosis of a heart problem. He now stays by my side constantly day and night and he has fits if I go outside or leave the house without him. (He doesn't get to go outside or on our trips to town. He does relax when I do go to town because he knows that Bill...my boyfriend...is with me.) I am so proud of that 22 pound bundle of love and fur.
