yugasini: yes/no. compared to our neighbouring countries yes. but compared to China I think ours may not be strong. But internally we are put into a lot of hardship on account of inflation--price rise on the one side and wages freeze or reduction on the other side. IT industry is a happy one in this case. retired people are affected lot just as all others.

In all the deals it is the middle class which is affected. Poor people are used to their standards. Rich people manage to earn more and so are not affected. In between this middle class like us is the lot suffering.

wonderboy effect of depreciation of rupee is prices rise. cost of gold goes up. air ticket charges go up. it is not a good trend. it is good for exporters. exporters do not get back the money to india. importers are affected lot more.

In all the SAARC countries money value is declining. In comparison to other countries India's position is a beat better. But overall Indian economy is not in a encouraging condition.

Hi yugasini, First and foremost thank you for informing me about the exhibition. But I have right now too many things on my hand. I have two girls from poor family caming to study at my place. One of them is only coming to learn how to use computers while the other one wants to learn English, math, and other subjects and then appear from some exams. Their studies are being disturbed quite often, and I feel guilty if I dont do a sincere job. My pa is also to undergo cataract operation. So I cant be taking so many days off for my personal chores. That is why I couldnt really spend much time with you though you had my best interests in your heart. And if you noticed, our currency has been falling steadily after we adopted the new rupee symbol. I told kala that the symbol is not good for our currency. She agreed. As top mentioned - it has to be compared with other currencies in the past. That is because you got to know whether ours is the only currency that has slipped so rapidly. You did not mention the Chinese currency.

Unless we bring China into picture we cant really say we are the strongest out here. :) Actually, our competition is with China so to speak, because both our nations are grappling with large population, but dealing with it differently. We, Indians, even have a different form of secularism. Because of that, we do have difficulty in managing our country. Added to that is our constitution, which, with all due respects to Dr. Ambedkar, I must say was not far sighted enough. Actually, Ambedkarji would never have expected non-implementation of reservation, and consequent agitations, and eventually cornering of backward seats, causing so much of agony in the hearts and minds of other people. Whatever be the case, we are a few steps behind China, and our currency reflects that. For whatever it is worth, why dont we write our rupee symbol differently. I mean, when we are writing it at home within our mail or when we write manually. I do feel it will improve if we let the letter ra (devanagri script) move upwards beyond the top two lines. If we all deliberately start doing that our country's currency will start moving upwards. Have a good day yugasini garu. I dont trust these exhibitions. :( I think they sell false currencies. :(

It is strongest, but it does not mean many thing if you don't compare it with a past date. By example, I can get today $1.27 with 1 Euro, but 1 year ago I had $1.42 for 1 Euro, 12% more.

I also think the value of rupees is decreasing day by day and it has hit the topest now a days. I think lots of currency of other countries have less value than Indian rupee. I think mostly the cost of dollar is increasing in different countries.

The depreciation of value in almost all currencies is worrying nowadays. Most countries are facing this problem and is affecting everything. Atleast your currency has still managed to remain the strongest among your neighbors which is really a good thing.
