there was this story about Missouri Road in New York and this gal called Mary. She got away from this mental institution and set fire to it. Some intenty is still there on this Missouri Road area asking for help-'I'm burning' 'Help me!' I was just thinking there sure are alot of stories like this. I wonder if they are just urban legends or if the stories are true or at least partially so. These old buildings that used to be mental institutions and are abandoned. There must be alot of these all over the country. I have heard of such stories as the Magdalene Sisters in Dublin and one called Penhurst in Pennsylvania. (I have added links to articles about each below)
Now what I am wondering is if you have a Urban Legend about such a place in your area that you might want to share? Sure is dead on Mylot this weekend.

There is this super old mental institution in Knoxville called Eastern State...well..it used to be. My grandmother was a nurse there when I was very small and it was old then. They closed it down and built a new place on the same grounds but there are people that swear it is haunted. All the old mental "tools" were still in the basement and it was creepy because there was a graveyard across the street. I have not heard of any very specific stories...just haunting stuff.

Sounds like the Pennhurst one in Pennsylvania. It has several buildings on the property and they are using some for different things now but the older buildings still stand being all haunted and all. Ugh! Reminds me of the American Horror Story. Wish it would hurry and come back. Its supposed to be set in a institution this season.
