Not a Drop to Drink

I'm sitting here right now with not one or two, but 4 different beverages. I have a bottle of water, a cup of hot chocolate, a cup of coffee, and a glass of kool aid. I get dehydrated at work, where they don't allow us to have water on the floor, and then try to drink everything in sight when I get home. Most of the time water will satisfy me but sometimes, like tonight, nothing I drink seems to quench the thirst. Have you ever been very thirsty but nothing soothes your thirst? Have you ever drank more than one beverage at the same time? What is your favorite thing to drink? Do you drink as much water as you should?

I once went on a 14 mile hike without adequate water. There were supposed to be well marked springs along the trail, but we couldn't find them. Although my hiking partner and I tried to ration our drinking, we ended up drinking the little bit of water we had and had to walk many miles without water. We did find some stones with moisture on them, and we licked them, as well as chewing moist leaves. Eventually, we got to our stopping place and we were dehydrated and I was dangerously close to heat exhaustion. Later that evening, a group arrived at our campsite. They asked if we had water that they could use to cook. They said they had none. Our hearts fell. Then they said, "All we have is gallons of Gatorade. How are we supposed to cook with that?" We were over joyed! They shared their Gatorade with us and it was beyond wonderful! Sometimes I find that I am not satisfied with one drink to quench my thirst, and I'll drink several different kinds at a time, usually milk, orange juice (or another juice), and a Coca Cola. My friends think this is weird, but I don't think so. Hope your thirst is quenched!

I couldn't imagine finishing a 14 mile hike without water! I have to take water with me even if I'm just doing a mile or two around the neighborhood. What luck they were there to give you the Gatorade. I bet it helped a lot since you were so very dehydrated! Its nice to know I'm not the only person who will drink multiple things at once.

It more than helped. It probably saved my life! As to drinking multiple drinks at once, it just makes sense to me. I do it all the time. Cheers!

On a normal day I keep hydrated. On days I do product demonstrations I cannot drink and work. So I end up very thirsty. Sometimes juice is what I need. I think the best quencher for me is water with lemon or lime. I drink some of the Mio energy drinks as they get my caffeine for me as well as B vitamins. I inhale a bottle of water so fast.

I keep telling myself I'm going to try the mio stuff, but never have yet. I'm afraid it will be as unappetizing as the crystal light was.

Pineapple orange juice is great. I love to make smoothies in that flavor too.

hi nonersays, I can drink as much as I want where I work. As I commute for 4 hours then work 6 hours and commute back 4 hours to get home again I limit my fluid intake during the workday saying a big mug of coffee has to do and nothing any more after noontime. So I am thirsty as well when I get home and the best thing to have is bottled water. It always helps me and quenches my thirst. Got to say I use the "silent" variety most of the time when I get home cause I can drink more of it in a shorter period of time.

I can see why you would want to limit your fluids at work.

I find that Lemonade is very refreshing and satisfying when I am dehydrated. Maybe give it a try? Good Luck :-)

I have felt like this many times before. When I do feel like this I always get me a gatorade. This is the only thing that tends to quench my thirst and the main reason for this is more than likely I am dehydrated. then after drinking gatorade I feel hydrated and not thirsty anymore. I keep gatorade in my house at all times. Yes I do drink water all the time. We have an electric water machine that keeps are water nice and cold. You just feel you up a cup of cold water and your on your way to doing what ever. I like it aslo, because now my kids love filling them a glass of water where before they would not drink water. Now they drink water every single day. I love to hear them say: Hey MOm!! can I have some water lol. I say to them all the time you do not have to ask me for water.

Water really soothes my thirst. Wht kind of work is that? You are not allowed to bring water, but I hope you are allowed to go outside and drink when you are thirsty. You should drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. natural doctors said that it is better to drink warm water than cold water especially when you are thristy. This will prevent your veins from hardening upon drinking which caused by cold drinks. Sometimes, I feel the same too, that I need to drink something not in our fridge but I can't figure out what is it. Drinking water could really help you hydrated and prevents you from constipation problems. I always sure that I have to drink 1-2 glasses of water every hour to keep me hydrated all day. Good day!

I work in retail and we are not allowed to have drinks on the register or on the floor. You can go to the break room to get a drink, if you are lucky. Some days I can be stuck on the register for 4 hours without a break, talking the whole time. And I get REALLY thirsty. If I'm working on the floor it a little better because I can pop back for a drink more often, but now when I'm stuck on a register.

I remember once I went hiking with my friend we had a 2 L water , we were saving it up by not drinking up too much of it so that we could drink it all when we got to the peak . but when we reached there the bottle slipped out of my bag-pack and well down from the peak we never found it , we were extremely thirsty but there was nothing to drink. We eventually came down the hill dry as hay and bought a bottle of mineral water.

Oh wow, that's horrible. I bet you were really thirsty by the time you got back down.
