I hate waiting for meat to defrost because it takes forever. I put the meat in the fridge from the freezer last night after getting off of work at midnight, so it was probably around 12:20 that I put it in the fridge. It's now 2:30ish and it's still not defrosted all the way. I took it from the fridge to hot water in the sink about thirty minutes ago, and now I just got done taking it out of it's packaging, cutting it into fours and repackaging it, it's still not fully defrosted.
This is why I like buying meat the day I am going to fix it because it taks forever to defrost. I am making spaghetti today, veggie rotini and whole wheat rotini with sweet tomato and basil sauce and traditional organic sauce. I'm also going to add garlic flakes, onion flakes and maybe something to spice it up a bit as well. I have whole wheat rolls in the freezer and may set them out before I put them on a pan and let them thaw a bit, pouring some garlic powder on them to give them a garlicky flavor. No salad this time, though I do have broccoli and cauliflower with carrots as well as a whole cauliflower head I could use, and greek vinnegerate dressing as well.
I try to make my spaghetti different every time.
Do you hate waiting for meat to defrost? Also do you make your spaghetti or any other dish really, different every time?

I hate waiting for meat to thaw out, and I hate using the microwave to thaw meat out in, even though it has a defrost setting, it just seems so weird to me that people are using radiation waves to thaw out their food. I know that sounds weird but it's how I see it. I do make my spaghetti different every time because it depends on what I have in the house at the time. The same with my fried chicken recipe although that depends more on my mood than whats in the house, since my seasoning cabinet is always stocked up.

I don't really like using the microwave anymore myself. I try to avoid it whenever possible because of things I read online about it. That's why I thawed the meat out the way I did. Plus, putting it on defrost cooks it eventually, because after it's thawed it starts to cook if you're not careful. I've been buying veggie noodles now and I also bought some whole wheat noodles so that's what I used. It was great.

At Walmart they are on the bottom shelf with all the other pasta's, that's where I've found them. They are veggie spirals.

When we buy ground meat we divide it into individual portions, put it into a ziplock bag, and flatten it as flat as we can before putting it in the freezer. We do this for two reasons. Number one, it thaws really fast. Number two, you can stack those flattened bags in your freezer and they save space. I do not make spaghetti, hubby does not eat it, however my lasagna is different every time and so is my chili. I use lots of herbs and spices.

Yeah, a rolling pin will make it really flat, but if I am in a hurry I will also just mash it down with my hands. I usually just set it out on the counter a little while (not a good health practice) or a longer while in the refrigerator. If you would just have to brown it anyway you can throw it in the skillet frozen and it will thaw and brown at the same time. I only thaw it for patties or for meatloaf or meat balls.

Sounds like a good idea, I've thought of putting it in bags after I watched this video today about ground beef. I wasn't sure how to defrost it, well I knew of a few ways but wanted to hear about others.
In any case putting it in a ziploc bag sounds like a plan, and I guess after that you take a rolling pan to it?

I would always get the frozen meat from the fridge after lunch , if i am to cook it for dinner.
I would thaw it in a basin of water and when it is thawed, i would already season it with salt and put it back in the fridge ( not in the freezer) and get it out when i am to cook it already.

Honestly, I usually take it out before going to work either put it on the counter or in the fridge. Since I have cats and dogs which enjoy the smell I usually put it in the fridge. I havent had spaghetti in so long, but I may make it now. I love my Moms homemade sauce whether its meat or meatless. I try to add some veggies to mine as well usually mushrooms and spinach.

I don't add veggies, but veggie noodles. I believe my grandmother used to put green peppers in the spaghetti sometime. Walmart carries the veggie noodles. Now I thought of taking it out before I went to work but decided not to. So I had to defrost it in the sink and cut it up.
