Finally I may have my low rental

The lord has been very good to me I have been praying for a low rental for 2 years now, and I will be going to see one on Thursday, I will have to take it, If I refuse then I must wait a whole year for another one and we cannot afford that. I already know that I cannot take my washer and dryer but it is an apartment building and there is a washer and dryer on every floor for 75 cents a load. The other major problem is that it is not close to grocery stores. However, I may have a friend take us shopping for 5.00 which is great. The prayer I need is that the bedrooms be big enough, we both have double beds, and necessary furniture and stuff. Also this is a seniors apartment building. I am only 57 but they told me they had nobody on the list who was 60 or over so they will offer it to me.

Hello there long time no talk really. Now if I remember correctly you live with your son, am I right? Will they allow him to live there seeing as it's for seniors? I know they are allowing you in because the list doesn't even have what America considers to be a senior citizin. $5.00 a grocery trip isn't that bad and you may be able to stretch it by getting many things at once on sale, with coupons, etc. However that 0.75 per wash sure does add up. Glad that you've got a lower rental up for the taking and hoping you can get it and it'll be better then you think.

yes my son is moving with me, that is allowable under the rules when the senior is disabled and needs to have someone live with her. 60 is the age they take people, but they had nobody on the list that was 60 and they had the empty apartment so they offered it to me.

That is really great news Rose now you can get into a low Rental you can live with more ease of mind for sure. It has been a bit of a wait for you but now you are moving in there very soon good luck and hope you find everything just fine.xxx

Congratulate you on having it.I remember You have mentioned this in a discussion you started before.I wonder why the people who are 60or over aren't eligible for low rental.

I am happy for you when you can have a low rental now. Nowadays it is hard for us living and earning money also...so that it is really good when you can get low rental for 2 years. Currently i have no own house yet, and i have to rent a house so that i really sympathy your situation. You see, everything will be fine, finally.

I am glad to hear that this has become available for you, winterose. I have noticed in other Discussions where your friends are moving, that you have mentioned that you would like to move, but can't. I hope that this low rental works out for you, and I will send positive thoughts out in the Universe in the hopes that the apartment is what you hope it will be and that all works out for the best for you.

I hope it is what you want, although most senior apartments don't have a bedroom that big. I hope you like it.

depends on where you live for senior housing, even here it depends on where it is, I saw the place the main bedroom is the biggest room in the house and the other one is a good size too so I am happy.

That is a fair price for laundry. I recently sold my dryer, as decided to hang all the clothes. It costs less and did lower the bill. Good luck and hope the rooms are good size.

we are not allowed to hang clothes outside. I would not be paying electricity in this place either.

That's great news Winterose. I will pray for all the other necessities like big enough bedrooms, to fall into place, so to speak.

Only 57 in a seniors' building? You'll be the "hot new chick" all the old goats will be after... Seriously though, here's hoping it's everything you want (other than proximity to stores).

well it is not everything I want and I haven't even seen it yet but we are taking it because we can't live here anymore, I don't trust the electricity at all. And I am tired of sitting in the dark for 17 and half hours at a time until it decides to go back on again.

That's great news! I think it will all work out. With all the money you save in rent you will be able to pay a little for someone to take you to the store etc. I have always thought it odd though that they have these "Senior" housing places located in places where it is so hard for seniors to get to places considering that many of them don't drive. The one we have here is also located quite a distance away from all the shopping centers. It is, however, quite close to a convenience store and the social services office as well as the clinic/hospital. There is also a trolley bus that picks people up and will drive you all over town for 1.00. Hope everything works out for you, Winter. Two years is a long time to wait. You must be so excited!

I am but I will feel better once I have the lease signed. My friend T say he would take us grocery shopping we will give him 5.00 for the gas which is fair I find.

Sounds like this may work out for you.You can always do more hand washing if you buy some of those indoor clothes dryers. We used to have them when I was young and we lived in apartments. You learn to adapt. You can also earn amazon gift certificates to get some of your non perishable food items shipped to you. If you have amazon prime then you get free 2 day shipping. Keep us posted.

no way hand washing, I am disabled, and I would not do it even if I wasn't. We will use the washers and dryers in the building and pay 75 cents per load.

I wish you luck and that its what you want. Its hard to find any decent apartments now especially what we want to a t. But 75 cents a load is decent, and you can always sell your washer and dryer for some extra money. I hope you like it, and it works out. Is there bus systems or even taxis for you to go in the grocery store? How far are the stores?.

we can't carry lots of groceries in the bus and that would mean we pay 12.00 in the bus to get there and back. Then the taxi will that would be maybe 25 dollars so that is quite pricey.
