Cinnamon and honey hair color?

I am always in search of natural color/highlights for my dirt brown hair-- and someone suggested mixing ho0ney, cinnamon and conditioner and applying to damp clean hair, cover and leave on at least 4 hours, for bl;onde/strawberry highlights. Has any one tried this? if so, did it work? does anyone else have a favorite recipe for a natural highlighter?

Honey should not change the color, but it will moisturize. It is a humectant and it draws moisture to your hair and skin. That is why it is in so many cosmetics. Lemon will lightly bleach and give you highlights. I am not sure, but cinnamon probably would give you some reddish highlights. I have heard of people using Red Zinger tea, by Celestial Seasoning for reddish highlights. That is due to the rose hips and hibiscus in it. For over a year I have used henna, and there are all kinds of instructions and forums online. I found that it was a bit too red so I added indigo to it. I am just tired of it and have decided to let all my gray come back. I just had about five pounds of hair cut off. I usually put the henna mix on my hair and leave it for five hours. I have also read that you can just add it to conditioner. From my research on various sites I learned to use something a little acid and something a little sweet with my herbs, then when there was color release I would "terp" with essential oils. Some people add cinnamon to their henna, I do know that. Generally I did a splash of lemon juice a little bit of honey, stirred in hot coffee with the herbs. After the color release I added lavender oil and Tea Tree oil then applied it to my hair, put on a shower cap and let it set for five hours. I would condition it and rinse it only the first night. 24 hours later I would shampoo. I hope you tell us about your experiences.

I'll have to try this! the thing with my hair is getting moisture into it-- it has been a lot better since I moved to Washington from Arizona, but it still gets that lifeless look to it. I have been using honey, olive oil and lemon juice for a week now, and it has lightened out some, so the gray isn't as noticeable, but I am basically stuck in the house because of all the bees still out for Indian summer. Once it gets cooler, I will be able to leave my various mixes on longer. I also did a deep condition with mayonnaise-- applied it to dry hair, tied a grocery bag on my head and heated my head with the blow-dryer on low for a half hour. That worked really well, but even after I shampooed I still thought I smelled like a salad

You hair texture may be affected by your meds. I think with the honey and olive oil and lemon you will be happy. The olive oil works the same as the mayonaise, more or less. My mom used to do egg in shampoo, but that was over fifty years ago. The nice thing about the mayo or the olive oil is that you would not ever have head lice
. . . not that you are likely since you are home all the time.

Interesting thoughts here. I have heard of mixing honey into shampoo, or conditioner and other products for other things with your skin, etc. but never this combination. Have you since tried this, and did it work? Not sure what it would do for my Blonde hair.

I haven't had the guts to try it yet LOL-- just my luck I'd end up with cinnamon colored hair or something. But I have decided to give it a try next week sometime, if nothing else my hair will smell great. I don't want to actually color because it fries my hair, but the gray is really showing these days and it bugs me.

That sounds interesting! Please tell us the result, if you try it.
I would like to find something natural that would cover my grey hair a bit.
