rain boots as winter boots?

I found a great deal at work for a pair of new rain boots that could fit my middle child for under $4 for the pair. However, my kids doesn't really wear rain boots but they do wear winter boots. The middle was wearing her older siblings old winter boots this past winter and IDK if they'd make it another winter or not. So IDK would you keep them to use as winter boots and just double up on socks and realizing she's going to have snow pants on that would go over the boots as well?

i guess it depends on how cold it gets where you are and how much snow you get. here in canada, i don't think rain boots would be warm enough, especially if the child spends a lot of time playing outside. i always either got hand me downs or went to the thrift store for my kids boots. now my kids are a little bit pickier because they are teens.

I'm just thinking I'm going to take them back I got them super cheap, though my oldest saw them and wants to keep them but I really don't see a use for them. I'd see more of a use for rain coats but of course those are expensive the ones that I've seen that aren't poncho looking garbage bags.

I don't think they'd keep the feet as warm as regular winter boots that are insulated. I'd probably just let her use them on wet/rainy days or for like if you go to a lake or creek or something.. or just playing in the mud or anywhere she'll get her shoes dirty.. gardening/etc.

I would get them and use them because they will probably keep her feet dry better than the snow boots I have seen. Keeping your feet dry is a key to preventing frost bite. I do not know anyone who actually wears rain boots for the rain anymore, but I see them on people all the time, even when it is sunny. There are lots of really cute rain boods available and she will like them, I am pretty sure.

Some people here in my country wears rain boots for safety in floods that has many germs. Kids are cute when they used boots partner with their raincoats. My mother inlaw request me to buy her rain boots because its rainy season now here in my country.

They might not be warm enough...rain boots are one thing...winter boots usually are a bit warmer.....you might try it at first but I don't think they would be as warm.

Depend how cold your winters are, because big socks will not always do. I did try it with one of my sons and he told me that in a long run you start freezing in them, it is rubber you know. I understand the cost can be effectif, we do to try to cut cost down because there is not much cash for those things, wish you well.

I'd keep them for rain boots if it gets cold there...i've tried rubberboots in the winter with the liners for winter boots and i find they get harder than winter boots and colder even with the liners and extra socks.
