Many of my friends only buy organic foods and I have heard its a healthy way to eat. My major concern for years is how to afford to only buy organic, as the prices have been a lot higher for these products in my local grocery stores for years. Recently that has been changing, as some of the organic have been the same price in the last few weeks. One of my grocery stores put organic foods on its front page promoting how they are grown in our local area. I think its great to buy local, as farmers have a hard time making any money. I use to be a farmer, so know its a hard life. Somebody on this board asked where to look for places to buy go to localharvest.org Abundant Harvest Organics and Farm Fresh to You are two of the places somebody else mentioned and one of them is in this area. Good luck and you might check Farmers Market lots of food choices at the one in this city.

I have turned part of my garden into a vegetable garden. It´s not much, but it helps. Yesterday my mother said that it would not mean that they would be cheaper than if I bought them, but I think she´s wrong. I would have to have something in the soil anyway (flowers, shrubs, whaever) So, why not use my garden to put some veggies I can eat?

I agree why not save money by gardening. In my area vegetables are expensive to buy fresh; specially corn at 3 ears for $1. I bet in the winter it could be $1.00 an ear. I did plant corn, so really save a bit of money this year. Thanks for posting.

If they would lower the prices, I'd buy organic all the time.

Yesterday the grocery store I shopped at had organic strawberries and the regular right next to each other. They were the same price and I'm seeing this quite a bit here. Thanks for posting.

My response went into oblivion land. I had a long response to it as well. In any case, I wanted to say that I have seen localharvest.org and that I want to buy something from it myself. I also wanted to say that I buy organic ragu as well as organic pasta, just expanding what I do buy organic. Though fruits and veggies are very expensive oranically grown, I try to pick up a few as they are healthier and grown better.

Thanks for posting. I haven't purchased organic Ragu or pasta will certainly consider when I'm to busy to make my own pasta. I do grow some of my fruit and vegetables.
