Im up late and just hope this isnt just a dumb discussion. I was thinking how much I really love Dawn. No, not our Dawn here altho I do like her. No, I mean the dish liquid. For a while all dish liquid was pretty poor to my thinking. Dawn still kept a pretty good product though and I discovered the new Olay in Dawn. still cuts grease but nice smelling and good on your hands. we usually keep a hand wash liquid on the other side of the sink. the other day, my son put Dawn in that also because he knows i hate it when he puts water added to it. Do you hate it when no one wants to refill things and just adds water? Anyway, i foud it makes a great hand wash also! Have you noticed the down hill run of things we used to love? Im glad Dawn keeps improving. So many things have disappointed me lately products that is. Is there a product you still love you cant give up? has it went wrong?

I have to say that when I think of these kind of products that the oldie but goodie would be Barkeeper's Friend. That stuff does wonders for sinks and bathtubs. You know those little grey marks that get on the sink from pans? Hard to get off unless you have this stuff...it takes it right off. If there is a rust stain anywhere...this stuff takes it off like nothing. I faithfully keep some of it around..lol. Oh..I use Dawn too.

Thanks for the best response. You can get it almost anywhere. I just pick mine up here at the local grocery store. I think that it would work great for those coffee stains. They usually keep it on the bottom shelf because it has been around so long..lol. Let me know what you think of it when you try it.

I, too, like Dawn and unless I find a super sale on something else, that's what I use. I think Tide is still the best laundry detergent, although I don't always use it. I use a home made version that works for me but if I have something grungy to wash, I use Tide. There are products I used to use and was loyal to, but they changed and I don't like them any more.

You make me think of Tide! My grandmother used Tide, so my mom used Tide, and now I use Tide. I have tried other detergent, but Tide works best. And I love the Tide pen. I too hate it when people add water to try to make a product last longer. My dad used to do that with shampoo when I was a child and I would get aggravated. I kept telling him I have more hair that needs washing than he does. He can get by with watered down shampoo, but we couldn't!

yes i wouldnt hate it so bad if it didnt shoot outward all over the place when i try and use the hand pump on these k9ind of hand soap containers. yes tide is the best product ever. this is another unresolved discussion i found you responded to a long time ago. it must have been back when we had no notifies before.

It's 6:30a and I am still up. Yes, Olay is a good product by itself. I have Olay body wash. Love it. Dawn is good stuff. You can wash the greasiest of dishes and get stuff off that has been there for days. So many products are being made as cheaply as possible. Sad.

No it is not daft at all.I really like fairy liquid washing up liquid. My mum used it when I was little and there is something familiar and trustworthy about it. After being a housewife for years you get used to things you use around the house,Flash is another product I use for washing floors ,kitchen sides ,bathrooms, ect.I have tried other cheaper, newer products but always end up with flash again.Shake and vac freshens your carpets.it works another product thats been around since I was a child.SO I know exactly what you are getting at and don't think your daft at all.

Are those your counters? I love counters like that! My house is so old that I have those old Formica counters which are functional but hardly pretty. I like the way Dawn works but why won't they make an unscented version?! I picked the one that I thought would be the least offensive, "Australian Spring", but man, if that's how Australia smells in the Spring I feel really, really sorry for those folks! Why must everything have such heavy scent? I hate having my life filled with all kinds of heavy scents--those of us who prefer scentless products are, for the most part, out of luck. I love Zest bar soap and it's the only artificial scent that I actually enjoy. Of course, they've added more scents so there are several versions of it but at least they've kept what I like. A few years ago I looked for the familiar package and paniced--it wasn't there! New labeling, colors and new scents. I picked what looked like what I wanted and thank goodness I chose right. Why can't manufacturers stay with a good thing, why does everything have to be "new and improved" every few months?! Anyway, Zest is really the only thing I insist on because it's basically stayed the same since I began using it in 1971.

zest is another great product! yes its stayed just as good through the years. yes, thats our counters. all brown with swirls of gold and white but mostly dark brown. sons choice. I like a counter I can see things needing wiped up. these you have to feel to tell if certain spills are there. he got a marble table the same freaky color. my counters when i had my house was light blue like with white swirls. looked like the sky on a clear day. with tiny swirl clouds. i dont know what they are made of but not formica i guess.

im in total agreement. Joy was the best and now its just one of the cheapest in quality and price. the bad changes in some products is why i feel a need to bring up some thats still good or better.

Dawn is what we use here at the house as well. I don't use the kind with Olay in it though. Dawn cuts through the grease and has suds longer than other brands. Another product that I am loyal to is Scott toilet tissue. I always buy the Scott 1000 12 pack when it goes on sale. It lasts much longer than other tp's do. So I am loyal to those two brands for certain.

we used to buy the kind of tp that was really really soft. i think northern. anyway, now my son has been getting it at work where they have allowed him to bring it home . it is a way to save money. otherwise its just tossed. the other brands of dish soap may be cheaper but seem to go so fast.

Haha, deffinitely not a 'dumb' discussion! Don't ever think that. Anything that gets us discussing/conversing is always good :) I have also seen, as well as used, the new Olay in the Dawn dish soap. I really liked it as well. Like you said, it helps keep your hands smooth and good smelling instead of so much as a cleaning smell. I've also noticed what you meant about the down hill run on things. It seems they upgrade/change products that are perfectly fine the way they were but they don't make any changes to things they should. Your son reminds me very much of my brothers. They'd much rather figure out the easy way to do something then to take the extra minute to do what you ask them lol. I agree with you, I'd rather refill something than just add water lol. Thanks for the discussion, have a wonderful day and hopefully chat again in a future discussin!! Best of luck and hopefully Dawn keeps improving :P

actually i really wish they would improve more things that need improving instead of raising the price and lowering the quality to save their money. i dont think they can improve Dawn much its already perfect.

I've noticed this with many products not just Dawn. We usually put water in the get the last drop then refill it only because sometimes we have a different bottle or different type or scent. I find any product I love they always seem to discontinue it and I get so annoyed.

yes i rinse out the last of everything when its down to nearly nada. but i hate adding water to it just to stretch it when theres quite a bit still there. thats what son usually does. but this time he waited till it was empty then added another product just as good for hands. it does seem if we really care about a product its changed or discontinued.
