Pitiful Kitty Update

Well, my daughter trapped the pitiful kitty as she called him on Sunday this week. Yesterday I took him to the vet and had him put down. He was not the sort to tame down and the cost to get him healthy would have been astronomical. He had been limping for about a month now and had conjunctivitis very bad. Heaven only knows what else was wrong with him. At least he is no longer suffering, the poor thing. It really breaks my heart when I can't rescue a cat and putting one down is never easy nor do I take it lightly. I always think long and hard on what to do before deciding to put a cat down. But I take comfort knowing that he'll never been afraid or in pain again, the poor thing. I hate to see cats suffer. What really stunned me, though, was the cost! I've put pets down before and it never cost this much...a whopping $95!!! I was expecting maybe $60 or even $75 but this was really shockingly high! What does putting a cat down cost in your area? Anywhere near what it is here? They didn't even cremate this guy for that price...which, I think, they should have included in that high a price. But they were going to charge me more if they cremated him! Can you dig it??? Wow!

I am sorry to hear that you had to put a kitty down. It is sad but the kitty is not suffering. I am not sure the cost of putting an animal down here. Never really had to put one down. Thank God for that, but that is very high.

As high as this was, it included disposal of the body but not cremation, which would have cost even more! I, too, was sorry to have to do this but the poor thing was suffering so much, it hurt to see him! Since he was so wild, I could not tame him down and make a good housecat from him so there really was nothing more I could have done for him. I always look at all my options before choosing to put an animal down.
