Sometimes you wonder about your adult kids

On father's day my boyfriend, got a book from his 30 year old son and a bottle of rye whiskey from his 26 year old daughter. Before the night was over the son took the scotch home with him and the daughter told her father. My boyfriend asked his son why did he buy him a book and then take his scotch, the son's answer was he thought it was his uncle scotch and that he went back home to the states and left it here. So the son bought his father a smaller bottle and some strawberries and and other things to go with it, What do you think, lol

Sounds like something my older brother would do. He does that then tries to act like he doesn't know anything. At least he bought him something in replace but he should of asked before taking it.

What, he could not even ask about it before taking it? You do wonder don't you.

Yes that was not right, he thought his father wouldn't notice, or that he would think the uncle left with it.

I think it's downright horrible that he did that!! First of all, I would never ever take something from someone else's house without asking and second to assume like that, and not replace it of something of equal value is the lowest thing he could possibly do. I am glad that someone ratted him out to his father. This horrible thing does not deserve to go unpunished.

Your being over dramatic. He thought he could get away with it of course it was not right, he got caught, he paid back the smaller bottle but with the extras came out roughly to the same price. Punished? He is a full grown man and does not live with his father.

That is odd, now the bottle was brand new, probably hadn't been opened. Almost sounds like an excuse to me, but maybe not. Atleast his son bought him another bottle, bot a smaller one and then threw a few stawberries and other things on top of that? hmm.

it sounds like he was up to something. maybe he didnt think his dad would miss it. and he wanted to drink it. our grown kids do things then try and cover up what they really had meant . at least thats been my experience. having found out later they told me an untruth about why they did it to save my lecturing them. i never know why they do such crazy things till later.

That's just plain odd to me. Why take it to him in the first place if he thinks it belongs to someone else? He had to have some idea of what he was doing unless he was plastered.

he didn't take it to him he bought him the book, the sister bought the bottle. His excuse is that he thought the bottle belonged to his uncle who left for home in the states and so he just took it.
