although i notice some blind people have their family and other elderly folks. why do they travel alone or walk on the streets alone. i have seen some famous blind celebrity people who are not that popular here before but somehow made a name, died because of crossing the street. they were not rich celebrities. some small kind of celebrities. and so they don't have cars and so forth. he was blind. he became famous because of one song only and after that he was not popular any more. till i have heard he died crossing the street by himself. i think he uses sticks or have a dog when goes out on the street.

I have met many disabled who travel alone, go out alone or live alone and I understand why they do that. Almost every adult find it important to be independent or do things on their own. When I worked in home health care I met many people were disabled and the things bothered them the most was not their disabilites as such but the fact that they had lost their independence. I am not disabled, but I am pretty sure that I would feel the same way, and I would make an effort to learn to go out alone and generally do as many things on my own as possible. My great-grandfather was blind and my family was very worried about him when he walked around in the streets by himself, but I do understand why it was important to him to do some things on his own.
