Robbie Douglas (My Three Sons) has died. Do you remember the sitcom? 1960-1972

THey dont' make sitcoms like this anymore. It was a fav of mine cause the guys were so cute and the show was about kids and lessons learned and a strong family unit and just a really enjoyable show. We didn't have TV prior to 1970, so the only time I was able to watch it was when my grandmother lived with us or we went to her place on Sat nights while parents went out and we got to watch My Three Sons. Any girls dream show!
But in later years when it'd be on TVLand I'd watch the reruns. If I had to choose a favorite time of show..I'd choose the year before the family moved to California and from then on...until Steve (the father) got married. I think that just made the show deteriate as now he only had 2 sons (Robbie got married and moved out) and Steve gets married and now has a step daughter. IT's My Three SONS...not "plus a daughter" so I think that was a big part of why interest went down. Even Uncle Charlie now had to give up part of his purpose in the show. I thought when they had KAtie and Rob have triplet boys, they'd make it a spin off...but they didn't.
But it was a great show, and of course, Robbie was my favorite hunk of a guy! What about you? DId you watch the show? Have any favorites? It is so sad to see these wonderful shows characters leaving the world today. Even sadder...look at what is replacing them!

Oh! Such bad news. I saw My Three Sons with my mom. It was about 1975 so it was the reruns. I loved Uncle Charlie! Those were the days. Good Sit coms like these are the reasons I don't watch troday's so called sit coms!

you are reminding me of my mom! She loved Rhoda and Burns And Allen! Did you hear? We lost Andy Griffith. I saw his show in reruns with my mom.

Hello coffebreak
I do remember the television show, My Three Sons. I used to enjoy watching it and especially enjoyed the character of Uncle Charlie.

He was a hoot wasn't he! I liked him to. WIlliam Frawly (Fred Mertz from I Love Lucy) was Bub...the first one to play the house guy...I think he was from Steve's side of the family, and Uncle Charlie from the wife's side..something like that. But they were both really entertaining characters.

I don't know all of their histories. I was just a child when I saw the show, and I enjoyed the Uncle Charlie character because he seemed the most realistic of the gang.

I didn't watch it much as a kid when it aired as we didn't have tv and only when Grandma babysat us were we able to watch it and that was maybe once a month. I first started watching it when it was on TV land as re-runs... now it is on METV every morning! Yeah, Uncle Charlie was a hoot.. told it like it was! He was really funny when he always used his past "experiences" in the merchant marines to tell a story or make a point!

I really enjoyed the early seasons of this show. The show really did go downhill when Steve married, as your right its not plus a daughter. I would have preferred them to have just the three boys, as the shows title says three sons. Of course, we didn't see 3 sons for long, as the oldest left the show and Livingston's brother joined the cast. He was adopted and I thought it was great to see adoption covered on the show.
The sadder news is two people passed away within days of each other from this show. Doris did live a long time; however, she will be missed by so many people also.

Who was Doris?
I too liked it until Steve got married. Then Chip got married. Which that was okay, but it was already on the downslide when he married because of Steve getting married. They could have had all three boys get married and could have had so much fun with that.. and then of course, Robbies three boys... Robbie, Steve and Charly. I was hoping for a spin off, but it didn't happen!

I do not remember the show because it was on before my time, however Randy used to watch the show in the later years and reruns. When he was really young he used to hate the theme song (he would cry, run and hide under the bed). I loved William Frawly in I Love Lucy. It is sad that all the great ones seem to be leaving us.

We didn't have a TV until my freshman year in high school. Prior..we only watched TV if my grand mother lived with us and she had one and if mom and dad went out...she allowed us to watch it, but dad would never allow us to watch it if he was home. Or if she lived elsewhere and babysat us...Star Trek on Friday nights we got so see some time, and on saturday late afternoons...got to watch some westerns...Roy Rogers!
I didn't really watch it until much much later in life..after being married and TVLand came to be and I'd watch the re-runs. Yes, it is sad that the great actors are having to leave us and they leave us with junk like Tom Cruise, etc!
