My kids refer to my temper tantrums as 'martha jo fits]. they have them to, lol. I don't like to lose my temper but will admit i have a short fuse.
. Last summer i bought a big box of what the vendor called seconds. They were priced very reasonable & were excellant peaches [which is my favorite fruit]. The only thing wrong w/them they weren't perfect in shape etc. I stopped day before yesterday at the same vendor & ask the young man [who was a different salesman from last year]if he had any seconds. He pulls out this box full & i will admit i didn't go through them [wish i had, i learned my lesson] & they looked fine just looking at them. I got home & started to peel them to put them in the freezer. They were absolutyely rotten, should have been thrown away instead of put up for sale. It really ticked me off & today i had to be out & i went back to him & filled his ear full. Didn't ask for more peaches , money back or anything like that but i just wanted him to know what an azzhole i thought he was for selling rotten peaches. Of course true to his age he was a smart azz & that didn't help my temper at all.
so i did have a 'martha jo fit then'. Do any of u lose your temper over getting ripped off of your hard earned money??

Hi Anti,
I can't remember much about being cheated, but I finally did speak up over that bread that had the bad taste. The company was very good and brought me two loaves of bread and two boxes of honey buns. It pays to speak up.
I've not had a hissy fit or anything. If I get ticked off, I usually just don't say anything at the time. I will then let it be known the next time something is asked of me. I'll let them know they aren't getting a dime from me or whatever.

"aren't getting a dime from me" ... puts me in mind of the old phrase about 'not giving your enemy any quarter'. ... Quite a different derivation, however
!
People who have pissed me off get a very clear message that they won't get a penny (or a cent) out of me ... let alone ten of them!

Dont worry about that fit as something similar happened here as well. Only here it werent peaches but cherries. I bought them from a street vendor and the first paper bag full of them was a dream. Nice and juicy and only a handfull of bad ones in there. So I decided to get back the next day for more, another vendor at the place, and when I started eating them on my way home it was like this, two to trash, one edible, three to trash, one edible.
Next day I went back to them and had a fit too. I told them the fruits were trash I had gotten from them and they started arguing saying they were cheaper yesterday anyways to which I respenden, but I dont want to just pay for trash and insisted on my money back. I got it back woohoooooooooo

Was talking to a friend of mine last night & the same thing happened to her from the same vendor. Hope your weekend has been good. Thanks for your response. hugs.

hugs back to you, ans lots of them. Somehow wasnt up to par this weekend though I met our Gabs as a special treat as she visits her Mom who lives in this area too.
The vendor wanted to give me mangoes instead for free but I dont like them and he didnt even offer me some of the more expensive French Cherries in return so I told him firmly and repeatedly I am not rich enough to throw two Euro into trash till he said then I get the cash refunded.

I give people who scam me very short shrift. I would have taken the whole lot back - peeled or not - and thrown them in his face ... and then asked to see his boss. On second thoughts, however, I might have made the best of a bad job and considered trying to cook them for jam or chutney. You can actually use quite a lot of 'rotten' fruit like this so long as it's just over-ripe and not definitely mouldy or diseased (did you know that medlars, for example, are actually only edible when brown and soft like rotten apples?)
Well, so my curiosity (and the fact that one earns rewards for using MyLot Search) let me to look up "Martha Jo fits". I found that Martha Jo Mahoney is an artist (and possibly subject to fits of anger, as we all are). The image on her website: http://www.marthajomahoney.com/index.htm could well be just how your interaction with the young stall keeper might have gone, if you read it from left to right and the black as 'your mood' and the blue and purple as 'his response'.

I looked further (at the portfolio) and found that I very much like the paintings - though I'm usually not too good with abstracts. The one in question is - ironically - titled: "Tied Together with a Smile" ... makes me think of the 'smile' with which we often conduct quite heated exchanges between a dissatisfied buyer and a seller (both really thinking very dark thoughts, of course!)

I have, my husband always tells me that I was quiet when he met me. I tell them the way it is. I think having my son with CP has helped for me to stand up for myself and others. I am nice until they come up with some smart comment, then I am not a nice person any longer.

I think that you were within reason to let him have it in moderation of course. I hope that you did not curse at him or call him any names. I would have certainly demanded my money back. Things are way too expensive these days to let yourself be ripped off. I do have a temper but I try to keep it within reason when dealing in the outside world where I could possibly be arrested for telling people how I really feel. LOL!

Thanks for responding. I don't do things in moderation, lol. With his attitude i'm sure he would not have given me my money back but he should have tried to compensate me w/either money back or replacing the fruit. When he copped his attitude I copped mine.

Oh dear yes...I do on occasion have a "Martha jo fit." I usually try to keep them within the confines of my home but there have been those occasions when I have let it fly where maybe I shouldn't have. I would have went back to the stand too.

Awwww Jo...... that's just not right! He should've apologized and either offered you some fresh peaches, given your money back or both! Shame on him for being an azz! He'll get his one day. You watch and see, he will get his one day! Karma is a bi*ch when it bites the person in the rear!
I've been in that situation before too and like you, I have no problem letting the person know how I feel. There is one that I'd SO love to tell off mom's doctor because he's an uncaring azz! He still won't order mom a power chair! I'm about to go on a war path!..... if only mom would let me!! Plus she wants to change doctors and when given the chance, she hesitates. Go figure. My brother is working on her too and he seems to get through to her better than I can so it's only a matter of time before he 'finally' reaches her!

Thanks for responding, no, it isn't right but i'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around so maybe he'll get threated the same way, i hope. I'd have a hard time dealing w/a doctor like that to especially if he was some of my family's doctor. It's no money out of his pocket so why want he order it????I hope u & your brother convince your mom he needs to go.Take care.

I don't throw fits. My husband throws enough fits for both of us. If I get ripped off, I usually figure it was my own fault for not paying better attention to what I was buying. Now, if I 'm dealing with a local business, I'll ask for an adjustment and nearly always get it.

Thanks for responding. That's a good thing. It was my own fault for not paying better attention but he shouldn't have been selling them in the condition they were in to start with.

Martha Jo fit?! So that is what those are called? I do lose my temper when I feel I have been taken advantage of. I am a vengeful person though and I do get back at them either verbally or business wise. Good for you for going back. ALot of people wouldn't. We have several fruit stands around here and have found one just down the street that treats us really well. I would find a different vendor I think and tell all your friends not to use this particular one. If they cheat this way they will in others too.

Thanks for responding. Martha jo is my name so that's why they refer to them like that, lol.I told him i was going to tell everybody i saw. Peoblem w/that i don't see anybody much anymore. If i was still working i could tell 'all' my customers & would.

i sure do but around here its more like getting peed off about WASTE. I so hate waste and the kids all know it except the 3 younger ones dont care. its like not only getting ripped off of your money, but ripping off themselves and everyone in the world!
using power they dont need, throwing away food someone could have eaten if they hadnt piled up their plates and just left them set. opening cans of pop and leaving them half full sit around till they go after another cause that ones no good and they forgot it. Im just not buying any more since they complain about whats spent at the store to

I hate waste to , bon. Thanks for responding. My boys do that w/cokes etc. to & it ticks me off to. I don't even drink them very often but keep them for the kids when they come.I also hate to see people pile their plates up & the leave half of it. I see them do that at restaurants & i think it is very tacky. Like u said there would be alot of people who would love to have it that are hungry.

Most of the time a supplier will 'make good' when produce is rotten.
