I Am Officially Freaked

About a year ago I started sweating...PROFUSELY! We are not talking a normal sweat like when you work out and get the blood pumping. I don't even have to do anything...maybe sit upright for a few minutes or stand for a few minutes, maybe make more than one trip bringing in the groceries. In this short span of time and without any exerted effort on my part, my clothes will be soaking wet and, when I had hair, I would be wringing water from my hair! Yesterday I took my daughter to the hospital. They ushered us into a room where there was a couch that I was able to lie down on. In ten minutes of lying there, I soaked the arm of the couch where my head laid. It is getting so bad that I don't even have to be upright. I routinely soak my bed, pillows and clothing just doing virtually nothing. When this started it just happened when I did stuff...like packing or cleaning. Now it happens every day, whether or not I do anything! I have tried to research this phenomenon online but there is nothing there that really rings true for me. The last time I mentioned this to any doctor I got the standard ignoring that so many doctors give poor patients. Recently I have come to suspect that it may have something to do with my blood pressure but I can't be sure until I talk to a doctor about it...and it'll have to be one that actually listens and tries to help me! In the meantime my situation is such that I am in a holding pattern waiting for my new doctor to get my records from my old doctor because she won't even make an appointment until then. Is it any wonder I hate doctors? I'm wondering, though, if anyone else has had this sort of problem. I mean, this is ridiculous. I'm afraid to leave the house because I'm afraid of offending people by dripping sweat all over the place...and it does drip! In fact, it literally runs down my back and soaks my clothes! I've taken to carrying a towel around with me to mop the back of my head and I have soaked through the towel on more than one occasion! Any thoughts? Have any of you experienced this or know someone who has? Frankly, I'm sick of it! The pain and fatigue was bad enough, now I have to deal with sticky sweat!

The symptoms shows that you are suffering from low BP. People who's blood pressure come down and marked as low-BP normally has this issue. One of my office colegue around aged 40 is with the same problems and he used carry a number of pice of cloth and alwasy carries tissue papers alongwith him. He is working in the AC envrironment office and while we all are enjoying he used to suffer from his sweat probomes. So, whatever the reasons, you may please visit the doctor without much delay and an expert opinion is a must and you should follow the medication ONLY after consultig with a doctor only. But please do it.

Wow, that's interesting. I know I don't have low BP but high BP. I've been on meds for my high BP for years but I have noticed it spiking when I take it at the store so I'm thinking that it must be really high for me to be sweating like this. It just isn't normal to soak through pillows. Thanks for the info. I will definitely call my doctor today!

First is, how old are you? I've noticed the same symptoms with my mother when she was in her menopausal stage. She was sweating like there's no tomorrow. Even when the weather isn't that hot. She would even sweat when she was just sitting down. Yes she does have hypertension too. But she already had hypertension prior to menopause. I noticed the same with my other aunts (sisters of my mom). However, I have read somewhere the sweats are our body's way of normalizing the heat of the body. Perhaps you're internal things are over-heating!? Have you tried showering more often? I'm no doctor but I sure would go to one immediately if it's that bad (sweating out pillows and couches even when just sleeping). However, if your area is really experiencing hot weathers then perhaps that could be a factor. But yeah, you should check it out as soon as possible. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I don't think this is menopausal because I had a hysterectomy in 2006...six years ago...and the symptom has only started in the last year. I will definitely see a doctor about this as soon as I can. Thank you for your good wishes.

hi alaskanray I was hypoglycemic before I became diabetic and whemI did go low I burst out in oodles of sweat so learned to check my blood sugar and eat snacks before it got to that stage. but woe after menopause I gained weight and then was shocked to find' I was diabetic. so please ask the doctor for tests for hypoglycemia while you tell him your problems or her. I would advise you to see an endocrinologist as it likely your problem is hormone related.

Well, I am diabetic but under control. I have been on a pain med for the past year, though, so I looked up the side effects on it and guess what what listed! Sweating!!! I am stopping the med and hope that clears up the sweating I've been having. If not, I'll talk to the doctor tomorrow when I see her.
