Among the things that I have learned is patience. Trains, planes and buses sometimes run slow and late. You need to go with the flow. Traveling can be frustrating and tiring. I have learned to relax and take it as it comes. I am learning to do and enjoy what I have time to do. I can not see it all. I can not do it all so I make choices and am satisfied with what I am able to see / do. I do not over do it. I am learning that travel is very expensive. I don't know where all the great deals are because I never seem to find them. I am learning that I love traveling but I also love coming home. I find myself much happier after I have had a vacation. I have just returned from my 50th high school reunion in Boston and now I am planning my next trip to New Orleans for the AARP Convention which will be held in September.

Well, I hope that someday I can get to Asia and The Orient including China. It's expensive!!! The Unites States is a wonderful country but expensive. I spent a little over a week in Boston and it cost me over $2,000. And I did Boston on a budget. I met many persons from other countries at the budget hotel I stayed at. This included persons visiting from China and other areas of The Orient. How they could afford it, I do not know.

I have learned that there are a lot of kind and friendly people who willing to help you when you travel in a foreign country. Of course there are also people are only interested in the scamming you and stealing from you, but a lot of people genuinely want to help, and I have been touched by the kindness of strangers many times. I have learned that it is a good idea to memorize some of the common words in the local language. It is much easier to communicate with the locals when we speak a little bit of their language. It is also very useful to learn the meaning of some of the common sign like "open", "closed", "entrance" and "no trespassing". When we know those words it is easier to travel independently. I have learned that a smile goes a long way and that sign language can useful when you don't speak the local language. I have learned that it is not always possible to follow a carefully planned itinerary. Sometimes something unexpected happens and then you have to be flexible and open for changes. I have learned to you need patience when you travel, because there are many situations where you have wait in line for hours. I have learned that every place can be interesting if you look at it with open eyes and a positive attitude. I have also learned a lot about other cultures, and that is one of the things that really attracts me about travelling.

I learned that the local people that are poor and lead a busy life are happy. I have stood overlooking two important places for two religions. I have found out each religion is worth respecting because they are important to the local people. I have learned that it is important to spend money locally rather than let it go to a country overseas. I have developed my patience through the traveling that I have done. I have seen wildlife care and that is essential to do.

Man has an innate nature to travel that is why most of us love to go outside our own abode to travel and visit different places in order for us to escape the stress and tensions of work and to find a place to unwind, relax and have adequate time with our friends, relatives and immediate family members. Traveling is a way of learning too, because we can acquire a great deal of knowledge about how life on this earth works, we are able to compare our lives with other people, cultures and environments. We can broaden our understanding on the ways of life, the differences in race, cultures and traditions of the places we visit. I like to travel a lot to places where there are interesting places to see, along the way you are able to see the beautiful scenery where you are able to appreciate nature and learn to love our mother earth. I have learned a lot, by traveling and I was able to open my mind on how beautiful it is to live in this world despite the harshness and trials that this world gives.

The number one thing that I learn from traveling is that there's no place like home. There's something to be said about sleeping in one's own bed. Having said that, traveling broadens the mind and there's a lot of worthwhile places to see in this great big world.
