In Manhattan many tourist and bystanders where shocked when a woman decided to walk around topless in Manhattan. This woman did this as a protest for equality. Many people who thought what she is doing is illegal so they called her out to cover up. Other people seemed supportive of her while others raised eyebrows. She also did this to make female New Yorkers aware that ever since 1992 it is legal there for a woman to get topless in the street. source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2149983/Moira-Johnston-stuns-tourists-walking-topless-round-Manhattan.html To all the ladies here, given an opportunity to be in New York....are you going to practice the right to be topless there? How come Female New Yorkers are not interested to practice this right?

most likely you will see nothing but women in business suits and women in casuals. she is like the only woman who takes advantage of it being legal.

Well New York is known for their Popular Bagels and hotdog stands. Its also a Fashion capital, people visit there just to shop.

Well, in my opinion, if someone has good taste, they won't go out topless in the streets, no matter if they were female or male and how good shape they were in :D. But of course it shouldn't be illegal... people have to right to be atrcious and outrageous :). A bit more serious topic is that, well, I haven't known until now, when I saw it in the news that in my country, it's illegal to wear bagdes and pins and symbols or political regimes, especially really strong ones (like nazi, communist etc.)... I understand that seeing these symbols could make lots of people suffer inside, but I wouldn't consider this as the same kind of crime as pickpocketing, murder, rape or anything like that. And it's interesting and sad to see that that for this "crime" somebody could be drawn to trial, but nothing can be done about mental abuse in for example schools and domestic households, which I think can be more harmful than someone wearing a red star as a badge.

How about people who go topless in the beach, do you find them more acceptable? I dont know what to say about those badges, but Prince Harry kinda gets heat before for wearing a Nazi arm band on his arm, cos that is his costume in a Holloween party.

The beach is another issue... there everyone wears beach attire, so usually we get to see more skin. I've heard about the Prince Harry scandal. He was stupid to do that, and I myself condone him for doing that, but it shouldn't be illegal.

This case shows that USA is a land of freedom:) If I have to protest, I will not be topless to get others attention. I am not that open. I will just hold the protest flag and that's all. I love China

by far only one woman have the nerve to embrace that freedom though, Most New Yorker women are fully clothed.

wow that is surprising. i would have maybe back when i was young and "they" looked good but not after i was 40 yrs. "they" were already a bit saggy and since last september theres only one of "them" so id likely get arrested or else people would be freaking out. id get arrested for starting riots.

They said is legal though, so any woman regardless of age can streak in the big apple if she have the guts. The woman is from UK, so she takes advantage of a right, new yorkers are not interested with.

LOL I can imagine traffic would come to an all time halt. Isn't their traffic bad enough? Afraid won't help them in the practice of this if ever visit. I actually had a trip planned to go there last summer till my car blew up. I'll have to ask my friend who lives there how often she takes a stroll around the block that way.

I think this law may work better with California or Hawaii as they have beaches,Its really weird that of all American States. New York is the one to legalize it.

Thanks for this discussion. In India this is illegal, only a mad woman can do this. A woman looks great when fully clothed, all will honor her.

not everyone have the same culture you know.i rather respect people by their achievements and entitlements in life rather than their clothing.

LOL. In our country those who do that are those who have lost their marbles or those who are out of their minds. Even those people are not allowed to do that. That would never happen in our country because everybody will call you "nuts" if you do such a thing. I think going topless is a most bizarre way of showing your protest against something.

I think going topless is legal in our country but only in beaches and R18 movies, Not in the city,You know women want to be topless at beaches cos they dont want to have tan lines.
