My family rented a houseboat for 7 days last week. We had a wonderful trip and relaxed and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
We were sad that the area had flooded the week before we went so there were no beaches to swim from but we still had a blast swimming from the boat, going off the slide and using the hottub.
Several nights we had fires in the firepits someone had build in rocks on the shoreline. It must flood there often because these pits are fairly high up and there were others in the lake below (we could see them under the houseboat as we floated over them)
We did have a trip to the hospital for my nephew - he had croup VERY badly - No injuries that required a visit to he hospital however. I was amazed though listening to the radio to the base for our rental company how many people get hurt houseboating.
There was someone who flipped or slipped from the 3rd deck to the second deck. There was a guy that radioed in saying he was reaching for a rope swing and missed...fell off the cliff...(this gentleman was at the hospital when my sister too her little guy in) and ended up needing stitches in his arm and his butt. Someone who didnt check the water depth before using the slide and broke their leg going off it. Lots of sunstroke type problems. Sadly there was a death at the lake when we were there. A young man bypassed 2 warning barriers for the waterfall slipped and was ripped down stream and down two levels of the falls...it took the friends and rescue workers over two hours to find him from the way radio calls were going in.
When you go on vacation...do you relax n have a safe good time or do you get silly and people end up getting hurt when you travel as a group? Have you travelled with people that get silly because theyre away from home?

I have not traveled with a group in a long time, We do try to visit my family often, and we are silly, but cautious. When I was much younger I was astounded when we would go on day activities as a group how careless and dangerous some people became. Warning signs, fences and barriers are in place for a reason. Sometimes it take a loss of life or a serious mishap to reinforce this thinking.

I would be safe no matter what and so would my friends, now more then years ago as we've matured.
I would be sure I understood everything that I could about taking precautions. I've seen houseboats before, not really "up close and personal" but I've seen them on t.v.
It sounds like you had a great and fun time, even fi you weren't able to do everything you wanted to.
