My country India's best medal prospects are in Shooting, Boxing and Tennis. Last Olympics we won a gold in shooting and 1 bronze each in boxing and wrestling. This time around I hope we can better that tally. Other medal prospects for us is Field Hockey, Badminton, Tennis and Wrestling.
What is your country's best medal prospect at the London Olympics?
Cheers!
Ram

That breaks my heart. I know not every nation has money to burn on these games but they Should be able to Still come and compete. That is what it Suppose to be All about. the young of All nations coming together to play sport.I'm a little silly . I root for the smaller country's athletes to do well. They are the reason the Olympics are so great. Everyone gets to compete! I hope India still does well!1 person likes this

But India a shouldn't win any medal, only then will our corrupt system get exposed.
There is no lack of talent,in a country of 120 Cr people. No training,no Grooming!!All these athletes we are sending, are jobbers..Them are not fulltime athletes, only when the Olympics comes they are called in.No preparation,no efforts...millions spent on the revival of sports culture, ends up in the pocket of our corrupt, disgraceful 'so called' leaders.

It's the "wrong" Olympics for Norway when it comes to taking a lot of medals. In the Winter Olympics we are usually upset if we're not one of the top 3 countries, in the Summer Olympics I suppose we're happy as long as we get some medals.
I think we have pretty good teams in womens handball and football. Also, maybe medals in biking, rowing and shooting. Not sure about the runners etc, I've got no idea how good they are. The same for the dressage riders. Sadly, we've got only two so they don't compete in the team competitions, which means that I don't think I get to see the Norwegian contestants when I go to the Olympics.

No no, the winter Games are the ones that matter :-) That's when it is important to beat the Swedes! (and the Russians and the Americans, plus the Austrians in ski-jumping)
But all countries can compete in the winter olympics, you just need to buy skis or skates. If you search for Eddie the Eagle you'll also see that you don't need to be good to compete. He competed in ski jumping for England, and came last every time. He jumped so short it was dangerous. Some years ago, at Lillehammer (I think) an African competed in cross-country. I don't think he had done a lot of skiing before, came in last but was so happy that he had finished and every one cheered him on. I liked that, it's not just the winners that accomplish something, you can win your own victories without being first on the competition.
However, I don't think the Norwegian Olympic commitee agrees with me, they'll send only contestants that have a change of getting a medal or being in the first 6 or something like that. I think it's the first 6 that get points?
You can also use a lot of money to build skating arenas, slopes of bob etc that can be used in the summer. Which is what they might have to do for the Winter Olympics in Sotchi.
Best wishes to India in the Summer Olympics! And I'll cheer for you when you get a medal in the winter olympics, according to wikipedia there were 3 Indians in Vancouver, competing in alpine, cross-country and luge.

You are a living winter Olympics encyclopedia.
I don't like our chances in either of the Olympics.Indians are not athletic people. We are short and pot bellied(I am exceptional
).I heard 'average' Male is 6'1",in Scandinavia..If this is true, you should have got more medals at Olympics,,but for some unknown reason you guys are not able to!!!Is it corruption prevalent in sports authorities, thats holding you back?Make be its because you guys are concentrating more on winter Olympics.
Also heard the rumour that European countries are active in giving citizenship to guys from Africa,so that they can bag more medals at Olympics ?
.I think this is unfair. If everyone starts using other nation's players..the spirit of Olympics will be lost..1 person likes this

I am from Singapore and the most realistic chance of a medal lays on the shoulder of the women table tennis team. They won a team silver medal in the last Olympics, breaking a long hiatus, and it is expected that they should at least retain their medal.

Well I am also from India.
I think shooting, Archery, badminton, wrestling and boxing are the fields India is going to score.
I hope that our nation will get at least five gold this time.
And with the inside fight in tennis, I don't know how India is going to perform in tennis.
Hockey is our national game but i think our team is not upto the mark to get a gold medal in this category.I am happy even if India gets bronze in Hockey.

Hello Ram!! I belong to the same country as you do,India. I am very excited for the upcoming Olympics. I gathered interests in the last Olympics and CWG. Watching a fair performance of our country in Beijing and then comprehensive approach in New Delhi made me really enthusiastic for same. I am eagerly waiting for our boxers and wrestlers. Also Ram you should not forget our archery team with Dola Banerji and deepika kumari as the favorites. And of course Saina Nehwal in badminton. Apart from this I am also hopeful for a tough competition for Phelps as Ryan is increasing the adrenaline levels. Plus do not forget the challenge Usain Bolt may receive this time. It will be full of drama and fun. Eagerly waiting for this event to commence.

I like athletics,I think Ussain Bolt will win Gold in London. But it will be tougher for him this time with gay and blake.I pray to God..Make him 100% percent fit.If he is anywhere close to that ..who knows ?we may even see a time under 9seconds for 100m sprint. He is such a miracle man..
My country expects gold, each in Wrestling, shooting and boxing. But really really like Saina,She could be the first real golden girl.No other woman has managed to win a gold for our country. So I really back her..after that..no expections
In tennis..God make somedev reach the finals(very very tough I know)..but he is a proud guy,he will give his 200%while playing for the country.I don't care about others except Leander.
as you can see God is a major player here...bottomline...No real exceptions no faith, only hopes, prayers
..thank you kalmady.shower your blessings on us.
