With the Olympics about to commence, I believe everyone is shocked to learn of a big foul up with the Games security and I cannot understand how a country like Great Britain could actually let this happen on such an important event. Personally, I believe that such an important job should not be assigned to some private contractor to undertake. I just cannot understand how an important and sensitive assignment could be treated like some big casual concert event. Even if the country would like to be fair to the public companies, I do not understand why there was no progress monitoring. I hope that the shortage of manpower could be compensated soon and the irresponsible party be brought to task. So much for irresponsibility which the Westerns are known for i.e. economic crisis, Euro fiasco and etc., I really hope that the Olympic Games will not be affected and most of all will not be struck by some notorious terrorist cells. Is the country accountable for such a fiasco? Should the private contractor be punished for being irresponsible?

When I first heard the news, I was also quite surprised. I was wondering what the International Olympic Association doing during it's periodic audit of the Olympic preparations. How did such an important part of the games get missed out? Now it remains to be seen how London copes with it. I as a sports lover simply want the games to go without incidents. Cheers! Ram

I believe it is the country's Games committee and the defense ministry that are suppose to be responsible for this audit and assure that such foul up does not happen. I do not think we can be assured that nothing will happen at the Games but I am sure you will agree with me that a comprehensive security detail will be able to reduce the risks by a certain percentage. I really hope that the country's alternative will be able to make up for this foul up and prevent any tragic incident.

Exactly something like what you explained happened when India hosted Common Wealth Games in 2010. Capital city New Delhi was selected for the same. Though the security concerns were not a part of mess but filthy conditions weird services were its part. Few days before commence of the games, few constructional defects were detected. hotel rooms were found in bad conditions. I was not able to get what the hell were the games conducting officials were doing. How can they take such a huge opportunity so lightly. But all well that ends well, there were no issues with the games. Opening ceremony was remarkable and whole series of games were conducted in a very nice manner. The officials are charged and punished heavily.

I recalled what happened when your country hosted the Commonwealth Games and I applaud your government's recovery and action on the errant parties. Unlike your country's mishap, I felt that the relevant contractor had sufficient time and finance to do the job. Compared to building structures, security personels are more sensitive where there's a need to screen and train. Time is a factor here.

Well I'm not one for conspiracy theories really, but you might have read that Zionists (Israel) are planning to create yet another "terrorist attack", either on the first or the last day, in which 130,000 people will be killed by an atomic bomb. Another conspiracy theory going hand in hand with this one, claims that a fake flying saucer claiming to be from outer space will come land at the Olympics, in order to scare the world into thinking we are under threat from an alien invasion. However, it is all just a fakery with a political agenda. Yes, conspiracy theorists have been busy, and I can't say I believe any of it about London 2012, at the same time you do wonder why security is a circus or whatever it was you were referring to. Actually, what are you referring to? I don't even know yet :)
