There's also Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Those are some funny names. I wonder if they are small and some loons just got together and came up with a name so they could be a town. Hmmm. I bet there are some halarious stories as to how the names came to be. Fun stuff.

I've heard lots of them but one that really sticks out in my mind... a friend of mine growing up had a lot of family in Arkansas and one day she came to school wearing a shirt she'd bought while visiting them... in the town of Toad Suck.

The people who settled the area get to name it. Some times the name is decided by the people to get a reaction. Truth or Consequences, NM was named after a TV Game Show.
It is interesting to learn how towns got their names. Where I live some communities are named after geological formation, or a person who lived there, or something that happened there that many people knew about.
