Today I spent the day with two of my close friends. We have one thing in common - we all love to travel and when we are together we usually talk about travel experiences from the past or the trips that we have planned in the future.
Today one of my friends told me about some of the places that she visited in the past. One of them was Thailand, and it was especially interesting for me because I am also going to visit Thailand soon. She told me that her brother is in Laos at the moment and she promised to send me a link to the blog where he writes about his experiences. I look forward to reading that blog. I don't know anyone else who has been to Laos so it would be very interesting to read his blog before our own trip. My friend also mentioned her experiences from Sri Lanka. I don't plan on visiting Sri Lanka in the near future, but it was still very intesting to hear about her experiences.
Here on Mylot we have several interest categories about travelling where we can discuss topics related to travelling, but do you discuss travel plans and experiences with offline friends as well? Do you have offline friends who share your interest in travelling or do your offline friends have other interests?

My friends and acquaintances all travel regularly. Some travel a lot. We love to talk about travel. I have just begun to travel again after many years of not traveling. It is very exciting but also very expensive and somewhat tiring.
I have just returned from my 50th high school reunion in Boston and I am going to new orleans for The AARP Convention in September. I am not quite ready yet for very long vacations.
I saw that you live in Denmark. It seems like you really enjoy going to places far away and different than your own part of the world. Thailand and Laos are a long plane ride away from Denmark.

Travel and going different places really broadens your horizons. I just came back from Ethiopia and Tanzania but one of the most interesting trips and one I wish to take again with my kids is the trip to the east coast Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington D. C and New York this is worth time and effort to show are kids this great part of America.

I think that it is a great thing to have friends who share our interest in travelling. I love to hear about my friends' experiences and talk about the places that I have visited. We can learn from eachother and inspire eachother
I hope that you enjoyed your 50th high school reunion. It must be interesting to meet your old friends again. I got invited to a reunion once, but I wasn't able to go.
In the past I have visited countries within Europe, but this year I am going to Asia for the first time and I am going to visit Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is the first time that I am going to visit another continent and I am really excited about my trip.

We're neighbors, Sourceseeker. I live in Austin but I am a Bostonian by birth. Yes, Boston is one great city and rich in history. I just wrote about my trip for Yahoo Voices. Now, I hope that they will publish it. I got home on July 2nd and on the 4th, I watched most of the series John Adams on HBO. I felt like I was really there.
I hope that I am fortunate enough one day to get to Africa. How was your trip?

Yes, I do talk to friends and close relatives about travel plans and experiences. My work friends used to come to me for advices and tips on traveling to certain places in the country. They've considered me as someone who travels a lot. I love sharing stories about my experience and tips on a budget-friendly trip.

I recently went to Ethiopia and Tanzania I have described my experiences in detail here and on Gather. I also desribe the plane trip over there which is just as interesting in many ways as the trip itself. Please read the comments about toilets both here and on Gather. Sourceseeker

Hi jureathome! It is great to share travel experiences and tips with friends. I am happy when my friends ask me for advice and I try to help them plan their trips if they are going to visit a place that I visited in the past. I know my country quite well because my friend and I used to visit many different parts of our country together.
Hi Sourceseeker! It is interesting to hear that you have visited Ethiopia and Tanzania. I have never been to Africa, but I hope to visit some of the different African countries in the future. Do you have a link to the places where you described your trip? I would like to read more about your trip.

They say Africa is an expensive trip, especially if you're from another continent. There are only a few people from my place who've gone there, and most of them are really rich. Id like to see the animals in a safari tour. Scary but Exciting!!!

Hi Porco, my offline friends are not into traveling. Most of the time, i discuss about traveling matters with my aunts and uncles. They had traveled to quite a few countries in the Asia and even in the European countries. I plan to collect enough fund to begin my vacation by next year. Don't forget to let me know, when you have the chance to visit my country in the near future.

I think that it will take a while to save up the money for my second trip to Asia, because I plan on visiting Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia on the same trip
I am not sure, but I think that it would be possible to travel in 2016. My husband has some debt, we will finish paying off that debt in 2016 and after that time we will be able to save up more money for travelling. If things goes according to plan I will be able to visit you in Malaysia in 2016. Let me know when you have bought your ticket to Europe, I look forward to meeting you and showing around in my country

I love to travel and I can“t help but talking about that to everyone I know. Many of you have read my posts about travelling and my friends here know that after each trip I will tell them everything and I expect the same from them.

Like you I love to travel, and all of my friends know that. When I meet friends that I haven't seen for a while they usually ask me which place I am going to visit next time, because they know that I am always saving up for a trip or planning a trip
Some of my offline friends and I talk about travelling when we meet and I also love to talk about travelling here on Mylot. I love to read the descriptions of the places that other Mylotters visit. That is one of the reason why I spend a lot of time in the interest categories related to travelling. It is really nice that we have the chance to discuss and share things related to travelling, and I never get tired of that topic.

I think that it is great to be able share travel experiences both online and offline. I love to start discussions about travelling here on Mylot and it gives me the chance to a learn a lot about other countries because I am able to talk to the locals from those countries and talk to other tourists who have visited some of the countries that I am interested in. I am happy that I am also able to talk about travelling offline. Many of my friends like to travel just like I do and sometimes we talk about the places that we have visited in the past and the places that we want to visit in the future.

Yes, I also think that we can get information about a new place from travel blogs. I am generally interested in travelling and other countries, but a blog about a place that I plan on visiting in the future is especially interesting to read and it might give me new inspiration. I didn't receive the link to the travel blog yet, but that is okay, I will probably get it when my friend gets online again. It is nice to hear that you also discuss travel places with your friends. I think that is very nice to share experiences and travel tips with friends.

Traveling is my top hobby and so I have to be careful not to talk too much about it to my offline friends. My friends offline are not as adventurous as me with there trips. My best friend loves to stay in five star hotels on tropical islands. She had her honeymoon in Florida and the Bahamas Islands. She has been to Antigua, Mauritius and Japan plus many other places. One of my friends got married two years ago and for his honeymoon he and his wife had a cruise around Southern Europe. One of my friends traveled around the world and he is an independently minded traveler. He said much about New York and Florida.

I also have some friends who are less adventurous than me. One of my close friends and I both like to travel, but we have very different idea about travelling. My friend usually wants to visit the same place very year. If she visits a new place she buys an organized tour. I love to visit new places and I usually plan my own trips. My friend finds sightseeing boring and she likes to relax at the hotel. I can't get enough of sightseeing and I don't spend much time at the hotel. We have never travelled together, and I don't think that we be able to agree if we chose to travel together
I like her a lot as a person, but our ideas about travelling are extremely different.

I am happy for you to have offline friends to share your traveling experiences. Being able to share would enhance your experience. I myself normally travel with my girlfriend and she would talk about what she experienced in the trip to her family, while I would normally talk about the travel experience with one of my friends named Ranjeet. We only knew each other for three years and we seem to share many things.

Yes, it is great to talk about travelling with offline friends. I like to share my travel experiences with my friends and my family, and I also enjoy hearing about their trips. Sometimes we can inspire eachother and learn new things from eachother. It is nice that you and your friend share many things. I have experienced that same thing with some of my friends, and it feels very nice to be able to share the things that we are both interested in like travelling.
