More bad news on the cat front...

My "grand son" Solo has not been well for a long time.
Last year we had his teeth done and hoped that would take care of the problem, but it hasn't happened.
We know his kidneys, liver, blood sugars are all good, but he's been stopped up and has asthma for some time - and now he's quit eating.
We give him fluids and he might eat a bit, he's on his second round of antibiotics and he's still not doing good.
Solo has just turned 8, so its not like he's that old.
He's going to a different vet tomorrow and they are going to do x-rays and some stuff that my regular vet can't do.
Please think of my boy, his pix (back when he was young and healthy) is in my photos.
Thanks

Awww, I really hope they find out what the problem is, since he is so young yet. How strange since everything seems to be good, especially his kidneys and liver. Let's hope for the best and see what the ver says.
I will think of your little guy and send good vibes.
Keep us informed.

I hope the new vet can figure out what is wrong with him. He really isn't that old so hopefully they will be able to help him get back to normal. Good Luck and keep us informed!!

I'm so sorry to read this and I sure will keep Solo in my thoughts and prayers. He sure isn't that old, being just 8! I have a feeling the new vet will find out what the problem is and fix him up just fine.
Best of luck - and HUGS - to you and to Solo!

That's terrible! I think you're a lot like me when it comes to our beloved kitties...they're like family. We had a cat that lived to be 18 years old and I've know of them living into their 20s. I always tell myself mine, four of which are 4 years old and one of which is 9, will be lucky like that. Anyway, try to think positive and hope for the best until you know for sure.

Yeah, he's not that old, we currently have 4 cats who are 10 and 2 9 year olds, and the other 8 yr olds are older than he is - by a month or two anyway. My fear is that he has a tumor in his sinuses... we've already lost 2 cats in the last 15 months to cancer.

Sadly that's a possibility. I'm sure they want to give up just as any human can give up on living. Not that you want to see that happen to him but it's a fact of life. Hang in there :)

I hope Solo gets better! If he's constipated, have you tried mineral oil in his food? That works when Gus is having some trouble and animals seems to really like it. Best wishes to Solo for a simple diagnosis and speedy recovery!

So sorry about your beautiful little cat. Have you tried giving him baby food? I read years ago that baby food is very good for them. Like the beef, chicken, different meats. Baby food has strict guidelines so it is nutritious. I gave my cats Gerber and they loved it! The cats I have now don't like it. But it's worth a try. Solo might like it. Good luck. I am thinking of you and your baby. Hope he gets well soon.

Did they check for allergies? I know this may sound funny or ironic but My Fat Kitty is allergic to fish!
I started to buy her food made of lamb and chicken and made sure there where no fish ingredients at all, which by the way is hard for cat food to find.
. She became healthy and then back to normal in about a week. She also has an allergy to pollen (yeah amazing right) that we need to get her steroid shots for every few months. She loses her fur and gains a lot of weight when they are bothering her and is very lethargic.

I just feed all mine the same food. It's not like it will hurt the other two!

Here's hoping it is not too serious, and they can give him something to help him get better. No, for a Cat, 8 is still fairly young. Just remember if it is something really wrong, to take it one day at a time and enjoy. There are other cats, or animals when the time is right.

I hope your other vet can get to the bottom of this. I have a cat that had respiratory problems, then he sneezed or coughed up a huge worm. He has done a lot better ever since. Maybe Solo has got something stuck in his sinuses irritating. Thinking of you guys tomorrow.

iam so sorry girl. we get to loving these babies so much. im sure i wouldnt know what to do if i lost my coco. I hope this new vet can find out what the problem is and what to do. for a while the kids looked at me like i was nuts when id ask them if coco went poo while she was out. the other day i will have to admit C. seemed to understand for one. i explained that they are like babies. they cant tell us whats wrong and its up to us to keep an eye on their elemnations etc. he had taken her for a walk as i cant do much walking any more and he said her waste seemed dry and hard and she should be drinking more water. its one of the few things C. daughters bf seems to care about is Coco.

Oh absolutely, Elic. Poor little guy. My Chloe appears to have asthma, too, and I just have no money to take her to the vet, so I keep her as comfortable as I can. But, it hasn't stopped her appetite, for sure. I hope an answer is found.
