Hello all, Is Labor very painful? Is it more painful than Passing Kidney stone? I know, how painful is to have kidney stone. It felt like my kidneys got frozen and are gradually cracking.Pain was so intense, that you can't walk or talk. Do you believe, animals also feel labor pain.Their expressions never suggest that they are in any kind of pain, during delivery?Human babies are curvy and smooth, but cattle calfs have pointy legs.So It should be far more painful. How painful is a heart attack?

Hello gara, Giving birth of a child is considered as the most powerful pain in the world. Same time I must say that the pain one goes through by his/her own will be the most powerful for him/her. I mean nobody can understand the pain suffered by a third person. So it is quite normal to think, when you go through some server pain, it must be your highest one. Regarding the pain for child birth, once you start to suffer the pain you have to bear it until the baby born. There is no remedy for the pain and the labour pain may go long hours for some people. We can use pain killers for any other pain except the child birth.

No, I never heard of it. In my knowledge I don't think any doctor suggest painkillers for labour pain. Myself undergone the pain twice as I have two kids.

Sorry, I talked about the normal delivery pain, not about the particular medicine. When I was in the labour room, they were measuring the level of pain and calculated how much time I may take to deliver.

We can use a pain killer, it's called an epidural. Never heard of it?

I have high tolerance to pain that is maybe I surpassed my childbirth labor with a smile. The nurses even praised me for that. But i doubt maybe some mothers cry because labor pains also varies from one woman to another? as for animals, I have helped delivering kittens for so many times. I can sense my preggy cat is nearly delivering or is in labor because she keeps on coming close to me and her expression seems to say "help i'm in labor pain!" I immediately prepare a box with some rugs inside so when she delivers her babies, they won't get cold. I help my cats by massaging their stomach. And I help them push too! It made me an instant midwife! and i can see it's also a relief for them to see me being by their side until all the kittens are out.

Maybe you should get her spayed then you wont have to "help" her through the labor. "Help" her by getting her spayed so she doesn't have to go through that anymore.

Childbirth is most often stated to be 12 or 13 on a scale of 1 to 10. Ask your mother.

It's different for everyone! I've never had a kidney stone, so I can't compare it to that. Let's see. The first time I gave labor, the contractions were pretty damn intense. I tried to hold it out as long as I could . . . even curling up could not help at all - my brain felt like it was passing in and out. But after an epidural, it all went away - giving birth was a piece of cake - no pain at all. The second time, they gave me an epidural way before it got to that point. And among some other complications - I ended up getting a c-section . . . and it was just too easy that it didn't even feel like I gave "birth". But healing from that took a while, a different kind of pain. And a heart attack - I don't know - and I don't want to know!!! By the way, my daughter is a Pokemon fan and she loves your avatar here!

Having a child is really painful. A mother to be can choose the natural way of giving birth or the caesarian way, but in my case I would still choose the natural way. With the Caesarian procedure, the mother-to-be won't experience the pain because she is put to sleep, however she will experience pain the moment she wakes up. As with the natural way, sure pain is experience to the extreme but the moment the baby is out, everything becomes fine. Especially when she sees her baby for the first time. Wow, precious! But, nope ... after experiencing it 3 times, no more for me, please.

Huh? No I'm not pregnant. What would give you that idea. I've had two children and I'm done. And my entire statement was written in the past tense, didn't, got, was, etc.

Well sorry, I didn't need that kind of status. And I got to a point I was passing out with exhaustion even after the epidural. He would not come out as I have very small hips. His heart rate was dropping so they said they needed to do a C-section. In other undeveloped countries that "status" would have either killed or caused my child brain damage. This is 2012.

Hello gravegeta, labor pain is natural. All mothers get this experience of severe pain. Mother animals have also labor pain. But they can't express. Pain of heat attack must be severe. If I die of heart attack I shall tell you my experience of pain. Just wait.

Your post is funny, friend. We would have to have all the pains in the world in order to say what is worse (for each of us). How about a took ache? An ear ache? The ache of the soul when you lose someone you love? I hope, for your sake, that the worst pain you have in your life is the pain of having a kidney stone.

marguicha Yes,you are so correct..The worst pain was when I lost my Dad.It was more mental than physical, but the whole body from head to toe was affected. For two three months,I couldn't even breath properly. There was a strange ache inside chest, felt like a tonne of bricks have been placed on my chest.I don't want to remember those days.

It is difficult to generalize the pain of childbirth. It is unrealistic to say that is pain free because it is not. there are things you can do to lessen the pain though. Relazing as much as you can and breathing through the conractions does eas the pain somewhat. Even though childbirth comes with its degrees of pain, it is a pin you forget once the baby is born.

Labors and labor pains are not the same for each pewron. It depends on how our body is built, on the size of the baby, on the position of the baby just before birth and so on. When we, women, have a baby, we are not thinking of showing off to our man or to anyone how much we are suffering. And certainly, the suffering is not for him. Our suffering is only worth it because a miracle of life is happening and it´s ours, we made it

I also like babies. But I can't understand why Lady's would want to suffer this kind of severe pain again and again. So I think they exaggerate the pain,to show their man,who much they are suffering for him.I know its really painful, but it can never be as painful as kidney stone or heart attack.

According to a men's magazine I have read, childbirth pain is comparable to having your groin kicked 10 times or more. Why are all your question about pain? I believe heart attack involves chest pain, nausea and difficulty in breathing. The pain brought by this condition causes people to pass out when they have heart attack, not to mention, the lack of oxygen supply to the brain and other parts of the body. I think if animals could be speak, they would as well verbalize the pain they are experiencing during labor as what we humans would do.
• Kochi, India

Animals can't verbalize the pain, but there are not even showing any sign of tiredness after giving birth.Mothers usually take bed rest for 2 to 3 days,at least. But they are doing a great job for the sake of the world, got to give them credit for that.

guess all mammals have to feel this pain, some women say it is kind of pleasure to give birth to babies, but many are afraid of it too, the doctors scare them and advice for cs delivery for the sake of money!! why you have put (1-10) here?
• Greece
1 Sep 12
CS deliveries are very prevalent here. It isn't just for the money, doctors and perhaps patients, choose it because it is possible to decide on the date and the time. That makes is easier to plan and it is more convenient for busy doctors too. There is something satisfying in childbirth although 'pleasure' might be too strong a word. Most women are prepared to have second, third and even fourth babies once they have experienced the reality of child birth for themselves. Midwives may be better listened to than nervous doctors, they are probably speaking from personal experience.

well garavegeta, if humans had cows of course it would be more painful, but the way a womans body is designed to birth children so are thw bodies of different animals But to be honest I was out when I actually gave birth, but I know about 4-5 hours prior ro birth it was no joke painful...I've never has kidney stones but I had gallstones and that me was a lot worst than childbirth.. Never had a heart attack either so I can not speak on that....

well this is how I explain the pain I suffered from gallstone attacks.. When I was having a painful attack, and my mother was being raped I could not do anything at the time,,,The pain was actually so painful, I could not even answer the phone during the pain...It was terrible....

if humans had cows of course it would be more painful I think kidney stone must be more painful that gallstone.Because it directly affects urinary/blood cleaning system.Pain may be similar, but the other things that accompany with kidney stone, make it more unbearable.Neva had Gallstones,so I can't be sure.If I argue with you,the god would give me that too,to help me find out whats more painful.

garavegeta Labor is worse than kidney stones. it's hard to describe but it hurts like you know----------------- . I have 4 children they all hurt but I would not trade them for the world.it feels like you are having a BIG HARD BM LOL

HI Sj112760 Did you suffer from kidney stone.Especially in the later stages,it very very painful. Ladies have more nerve endings per square inch of their skin.So that adds to the pain.It also means that every kind of pain will be moreintense for females.

Hi, I havent experienced either but would like to note, animals dont exactly have faces like ours to emote painful faces upon. sometimes animals will moan, as will humans, so of course all mothers are in great pain but they are biologically ready to give birth and become mothers now so their bodies and minds in all animals have some sense of this is what i have to do, i cant run away from it. so animals may seem calmer but it may just be their biology taking over where us humans let our minds and thoughts of pain take over. i would guess, at least in what one would you choose to have i would least want to take heart attack i think the pain of dying must be strong and this is most likely in a heart attack. how long does passing a kidney stone last?
• Kochi, India
20 Jul 12
I think you are right.Animals may be having pain, but they don't have facial expression to show us,how much pain they are in.Humans are given facial expressions to convey our pains, emotions to others. In animals's case its needless, because they won't get any help, from other animals of the same kind. In my case it wasn't 'passing',I was out because of it.The pain comes in short bursts but it feel like an eternity.Whatever you eat drink, will be vomited out. There will be bad feeling in our stomach. The ureter gets blocked by the stone, thats why it all comes back .

I should imagine a heart attack is a terrible pain childbirth is a different type of pain.Childbirth is a pain with something wonderful at the end of it.All woman have different levels of pain during childbirth. With the modern pain killers, tens machines, ect you don't get much pain these days.Although there is no doubt it does hurt for a while.Everybody has a different level of pain threashold so it is almost impossible to measure.Animals do feel pain at the birth but get on with it ,it is up to the farmers and animal keepers to an eye on them.Animals are much stronger than us.

I was talking about wild animals. They do it without any assistance.Laying egg is much more comfortable.Thats why Birds have evolved to lay eggs.

I have the same question actually. Goodness! I couldn't sleep right now feeling so anxious about labour and delivery. I'm nearly 35 weeks pregnant. My hubby keeps telling me it shouldn't be that painful/scary cos it's pretty much standard to women to give birth. Oh, well, I just wish myself luck.

I got to know that the pain a woman experiences during child delivery is several times greater than the pain experienced when all your bones have crashed heavily. Hats off to all the mothers on this earth who experience such great pain and yet give birth to their babies without even showing a bit of concern or pain on their face. i believe animals too must be experiencing more pain than human beings during delivery. Imagine how painful it would be during their delivery as they do not have any doctors nurses ward boys or hospitals around them? What say?

Hello Subhojit If it was that painful, women would never opt to have a second child. In ancient time most of the pregnant women would die during labor.Very few ladies survived, this ordeal. But kidney stone is the greatest pain I have ever experienced..I wanted to compare both of them.May be a lady also suffered Kidney stone, can tell us,which one is more painful.

well,I can't remember the level of pain I experienced but of course it hurts.also I done normal delivery but painless meaning I only experienced labor then when the pain is already severe and getting worst The Doctor insert medicine on my dextrose and i feel how this medicine run through my veins it is paining too.then I feel dizzy and feel sleepy then when I wake up I am groggy and feel my tummy is already flat. so i am sleep while I am delivering my daughter. What do I remember is that I am 50/50 because I wasn't able to speak my blood pressure goes up high.pLUS memory loss after that.I will say that when I got a swollen arms and hands for more than a month due to 'palsy' it is much painful than labor pain
