Homeless dogs are menace to society. In third world countries, they are publicly seen ransacking garbage bins for leftovers and bits of food. What is your recommendation?

Well I recommend that as long as you can, try to adopt a homeless dog or if you know someone who can adopt them. If you know some animal shelter, bring the dogs there.

Yes, I agree adoption is one way to solve homeless dogs. But good souls can be counted by the fingers.

I'm guilty to this, I found a kitty while gathering grass for my guinea pig, she seems lost or thrown by her owner. I take her to house just for a night but I have to loose her cause my mother is against adopting another cat. There is nothing I can do cause I need to consider my family too.

Things have their order of priority. After considering things, what's up should go up. You've done the right thing.

They may be a menace to society but you can't blame it on the dogs. Their only fault is they were born. It's us, humans who must stop this problem. Unfortunately, in third world countries they can hardly find funds to feed their people, where to find money for dogs? The solution would be to spay and neuter all the adult dogs. This way, they wouldn't give birth to other dogs. Aggressive or very ill dogs should be put to sleep and the rest of them to be spayed and castrated.

I see your way a very fine solution. What we can do for now is wait for the action of authorities or request in a fine way for them to solve straying dog problem once and for all adhering to your suggestion.

Ones to blame are the owners of these poor dogs. I hope they would start to see them as a pet and not just an animal needed to guard their houses. Problem is, some people would take dogs not minding f they can feed them or take care of them. Some people would buy good breed of dog but when the dog acquire some skin disease they would grow tried of them and just leave them be. I hope the government would look at this issue more. Like having a law of not letting dogs stray, and if the owner is maltreating the dog they would get jailed! ( yup, like what I always watched in Animal Planet) Problem is funds! government can't fund them, and people... even those people who are mad / annoyed about this issue won't even care to donate. I'm fond of dogs, but I hate it whenever I walk at streets and there are so many dog poops, and whenever I see stray dogs with skin diseases, I always pray that they would not bite kids playing on the streets. And not just dogs.. stray cats as well! I TOTALLY hate it when stray cats wonder on the roof, mate on the street during the night (IMAGINE THE NOISE!!!!) or even fight on top of your roof! I guess richer people don't experience this but... yeah.. it's a fact. ___

Your narration of events about observation of stray or homeless animals points to only one drawback, and that is man's indifference or shall we say weakness in his duties towards the dumb creatures. 99.99% of dog owners kept shy of their responsibility when the dog is already there. Lip service is the correct term for that.

I think the government should be strict in their barangay imposition of a lay that tells all people to have their dogs in their yard only or leashed so it cannot roam the streets. Penalties also should be strictly implemented.

It should be the case if the law or regulations are strictly imposed and obeyed. What a clean environment we'll have by then.

There are several laws/ordinances passed to address problems involving dogs. However, the problem is with its implementation. Since there are lots of problems in a certain community, the officials would certainly take actions on the most important one. Thus leaving this issue somewhat disregarded. In cases like this, I would suggest that we, being a citizen, should take action on this matter. We should be responsible enough that if we had noticed that something is not right, we should report it immediately to the authorities. So as with our own pets, we should always see to it that they are given proper care.

Yes- I am with you 100% that people full responsibility in all duties including rearing of pet dogs. Laws and merely lip service will do no good unless we realize and take real action towards achieving our objectives. I appreciate your response.

Dear i have visited india before and cows and stray dogs are everywhere. They are eating garbage an are very thin and probal sick.It makes me sad seeing dogs being homeless like this. Some aren't very friendly because they will bite and can be very mean. Others will beg with their cuteness . It breakes my heart.Back in the states though i haven't seen homeless dogs.

This scene is the worst ever presented. Nothing can improve the picture but the citizens living therein. Do they know that it's one sure way of spreading deseases?
