Hi mylotters, its been raining bucket loads of rain for the past few days here in the Philippines. I have been going to school drenched with all the rain water. Having an umbrella is no use since the strong wind blows the rain. I am so tired of going to school in this weather. I really hope they cancel classes tomorrow. Fingers crossed! how about you? Have you had an experience when you didn't want to go to school or work? Share your experiences below. Happy mylotting, friends!

They fall under one common thing, bad weather...
Back when I was in school, they put bad weather under consideration in the curriculum. In case schools were closed, the course of studies would not be too disrupted as certain number of days were already being allowed for such situations.
If I see you more active here tomorrow, then I assume you get what you wish for...

I still remember back then, that the authorities would suspend classes due to heavy rains and come afternoon the sun is already shining bright. Then there are a lot on instances that they say classes will go on as usual but the roads are not passable and the winds and rain haven't let up a bit. Insane!

I think the government should have more thoughts of changing the school days of the Philippines. It would not be safe nor good for people to be out on the rain and not be able to go home easily because of the Typhoon.
I think it's really good to move the school-year to September instead of June. However, there would really be a lot of changes for it to happen. But I think it's necessary because Typhoons are really rampant during June-August.
Good luck! I do hope they declare cancellation of classes because I wouldn't want to be in that situation too.
Too bad for the working class. There's no way employers would cancel because they're going to pay for the wages still even if there's no work done.
Have a great Mylot experience ahead!

I hope they cancel classes too. The Sona is also happening tomorrow. I do not understand why they don't cancel the classes for us since we are college students. we have the right to listen to the SONA too :(

If there are heavy rains with flood and due to it all the transportation facilities collapses then there are chances of cancellation of classes. And that too we know after resuming to school or office that majority of the people have not arrived hence there is a half day or holiday for school or office. Then totally delighted just come to home in rain and enjoy.

Hi,
This has happened many times with me when I was in my school life. Your post reminded me of those days and I feel nostalgic.
On many occasions when it has rained heavily I did not feel like going to school and stayed at home. Most of the students would not go to class and the school often declared it "a rainy day" and did not deduct attendance.
It is rainy season here too right now but only occasional showers and not heavy rain is falling. I have experienced this many times when the umbrella will just not suffice in heavy rain due to the wind. I hope they would cancel your classes tomorrow so that you can relax at home.

Hi, that is so true. It is still raining until now and I am already worried that I might not report to work again tomorrow. It is always the same story when it is raining really hard because we live in the mountain and traveling from here to work would be dangerous. In fact, last Thursday I had difficulties in going home because when I reached our place, the flood was already knee high. I really had no choice because if I will stay longer to where I am standing that time, I would be washed away by flood. I was very nervous while the tricycle is going up to our place because there are lots of rocks on the roads and water is rushing down from the mountain. I saw few people walking and just pushing their motorcycles up to the residential areas. I really do not want to experience that kind of situation again. I hope the rain will stop now or else, they should have to suspend work and classes tomorrow.

Hello Savagecabbage,
It never happened in my time we always used to have classes if it were heavy rain in the city. But these days the vacations are extended if the winter/summer don't reduce.Recently the government extended the summer vacations due to such reason.

I heard of the strong rains in the northern part of the country. It really sucks to be stuck in the rain. If it turns out to be a typhoon, your local government or even your barangay captain can declare suspension of classes. Especially for places with heavy floods, its really not easy to be going to and fro the house with that condition.
