Though mostly the term 'brain food' indicate that it will exclusively help to the grwoth of brain and its vital cells, we can rely only upto a certain extend only. As you said, how effective is peanuts, there may be some items which will boost the growth of brain cells. In our place also, there are some variety of lief, which helps to the growth of brain cells and the certain areas of medical researchers used to use the leaf for medicinal purposes and request to use for food preparations as well. I am not so sure that it is medically provied, but there is a saying that there is such foods to help the growth of brain, but I never tasted or got it from anywhere.

Yes, I have read about it too, that new cells are born everyday in our brain's hippocampus, but also said that it's still a mystery how this is so. Anyway, I'm not that professional to agree or disagree about this issue. I guess it's Ginkgo biloba is the leaf your talking about. It's available also in capsule form in our country, and medical practitioners recommends it as brain booster. I have read also about walnuts. If you noticed it's meat is shape like a brain, so maybe it's possible that it's good for our brain.

Yes, I believe in them. They are many. It's totally good for your body if you have it in right intakes. Anyway, I would say it would work the best if you have a balanced diet and exercise. Just eating the foods won't help much if you ignore to do some exercise plus with the poor diet as well. Nuts, berries such as blueberries, whole egg and many more.(^^)

I've read somewhere that salmon is a brain food also. I believe that food has the ability to stimulate our brain. As they say we are what we eat. The nourishment that we get from the food we eat, I have no doubt, contributes to our well being be that enhancing our brain.

Ahm...I believe those food are for the brain to continue working.....its not really food for the brain ....it is just a maintenance medicine.....well remember the human brain is a TABULARASA....a blank tablet....then they say that it continued to grow and store many memories though ironically everything came to decay so this food are only nutrients to function it well.

Yes, I think we can say that those foods are needed by our body to help our organs to function and that includes our brain. Experiments have been made by professionals that there are some foods that really helps to boost our brain to function at it's best. Theses foods includes nuts, omega fatty acids and others but of course, with the inclusions of foods as you have said full of nutrients to help the brain to function more. I'm sorry to disagree with you that out brain is like a blank tablet. I guess, we may say that up to now even with the advancement of science, the works of the brain remains a mystery , but we can say that it is where information are stored gathered from our surrounding environment and processes it in variety of ways. And the food we eat helps our brain to process these information more faster.

They say peanuts are brain food. Hmm. I don't know if I should believe in that. I don't like eating peanuts and I actually don't eat chocolate if there are peanuts in it. I hate peanuts. Sometimes my mom makes me eat peanuts. My brain is still the same whether I eat peanuts or not.

Yes, peanuts has high source of Choline which is also present in beef liver, whole eggs, tofu, almonds and other veggies found to be good for our body including the brain. I guess we can not really tell at once the effects of eating peanuts and other so called brain foods. It also takes time I think.

Foods containing Omega-3 oils are beneficial for the brain these are found mainly in oily fish but are also found in walnuts, pumpkins, soy beans and walnuts. As well as this its believed to stop the arteries being blocked and it is believed to help prevent cancer growth. You need to be careful to give your brain enough nutrition, your brain just ways 3lbs a fraction of your body weight but requires 20 per cent of your daily calorie intake. For the brain to function well it needs to send messages around it this is done by nerve fibres these fibres have to be insulated with myelin for the signals to and Omega-3 oils help the body build and maintain myelin.

I think the best we should do is eat the right foods, regular exercise and follow good sleep patterns.

Yes I have also heard of some. Almond being very common amongst those used here in India. I would not say I do not believe them. I will keep myself neutral over this topic. But yes science has developed. It will not be a surprise to me if eating these stuffs would really help me increase my memory. I haven't kept a note of that but used to have an almond a day in my schooling days. More than belief it was like what is harm in having it. This is what I keep saying myself. If it does not benefit, well and good. If it does its even better.
