My Poor Babies!

We have been having triple digits here the past two weeks or so...well, it did dip down into the 90s last week. We held a garage sale the weekend of the 6-7th of July and so had to clear off the big table and take it out to the carport. I had my seedlings setting on the table in a big tray...each one planted in its own little earthen pot. My daughter took my seedlings...tomato and pepper seedlings...and stuck them up on the refrigerator...and forgot them! Well, we found them three days ago and rushed to water them. One has survived! All my tomatoes are gone and all but one bell pepper plant. I suppose it serves me right for trying to grow them from seeds. I need to buy the plants, I guess...or plant them earlier in the season, at least, before the hot weather hits! What has been your greatest garden tragedy? Have you ever tried to grow tomatoes and peppers from seeds? How early do you plant the seeds inside before transplanting outside and how long does it take for them to be ready to go outside? Can you tell I'm a novice gardener? lol

Plants always die when in my care. I have yet to actually keep a plant alive. Granted, I also have yet to be in a space where I can really leave plants set out to enjoy the sun and rain. Instead, I have tried growing things on the window sill; that doesn't work out well for me. I think that I need to spend some time in some gardening classes. I also need a place where I can safely set up a container garden or even a real garden. Then, maybe I can redeem myself.

You and me both, my friend! I am one of the worst gardeners around! I'm lucky if I can reap the harvest on any of my plants...even my rhubarb and strawberries are suffering, although not from thirst but from bugs!
