What are the things that you will give up in order for you to save more money. In my case I am now dedicated not to buy sodas again instead I will drink more water that not only healthy for me but healthy also on my pocket. I will not buy anymore clothes, shoes or any accessories for the next 60 days and I will lessen also dining out. Do you think by doing so I can save more money and I can manage a little budget for the whole month and I can finally fill up all my savings account in the bank. How about you any suggestions to save more money. My goal is to save 500 thousand pesos at the end of this year.

Hi, I used to be an impulsive shopper previously. I had loads of earrings, bracelets, nail polishes, lipsticks and dresses in my collection. In fact I would buy shoes whenever any stylish pair caught my attention. But this year I have taken a resolution to cut down on impulsive shopping and so far I have been successful in controlling my temptation to buy new items. In fact I recently visited a shopping mall with my mother. I passed this store selling beautiful accessories but did not stop to have a look at them or buy. When I came home my mother asked me what had happened to me as she has never seen me return from such a place without buying something. I told her that I have changed myself. She was really happy. I have also cut down on watching movies in the theater. I would normally be watching at least 4 new releases every month. But now I am downloading movies and watching at home. I am trying to save my pocket money given by my father in these ways. I am saving all that I earn online in my savings bank account. I am not taking out any money from there as I want to see all my money build up. I am really glad to know that you are cutting down on sodas. Drinking water in large quantities will have very good effects on your health I am sure. I have personally had this experience. Water helps the skin to glow as well if consumed in the right quantities and also controls bowel movement. Wish you good luck friend.

My partner caught tuberculosis and has been unemployed for three months, which meant all of our household expenses fall on me, while at the same time I am giving financial support to relatives. Because of this, we had to "downgrade" all the products we use. For instance, my daily sachet of coffee is now Blend 45 (Php34 per pack of 10) when I used to drink Kopiko (Php55 per pack of ten.) Pantyliners? From the 42-peso Carefree to the 24-peso Charmee. I said goodbye to Kotex Luxe (50/pack) and started using Charmee sanitary pads as well, for a mere 18/pack. Since we have pets, we usually disinfect our floors. While we used to buy one-liter of Zonrox for 32 pesos, we now buy a 5-peso pack of chlorine and dilute it in 1 liter of water. I am fond of scents and while I used to order Victoria's Secret or Bath and Body Works stuff on Ebay, I now love Bench's scents that cost about Php60-200. Pasta? SM Bonus for Php20 instead of Royal which is 30-plus. Instant noodles? Nissin and Payless, since Lucky Me is expensive. We just have no substitute for Pancit Canton, nothing is as good as that. Pet food? Whiskas Php132/kilo versus Princess Cat Php50/kilo. Which one do you choose? The cats eat them all the same. I can go on all day. All of the brands we were used to, we stopped buying. It is helpful for us because our budget has been reduced to 50%. When my partner starts working again, we will continue using our newly discovered cheap but also good products, and that way, we can save money. Maybe you can do the same. Test new brands. I never paid attention to Sunsilk shampoos before, but now we are using them since they are cheaper, and the orange variant I use now actually makes my hair look better than the more expensive brand I used to use.

@airkulet Oh yes medicine! I love Generika and The Generics Pharmacy. I now buy generic paracetamol for 60 cents, I think. I don't remember exactly how much the basic medicines are, but when I caught a cold, I bought a lot of medicine that is the same with Neozep for a mere 20 pesos. @ilovechocolate My partner does the same! The truth is he is just lazy to shampoo his hair every day, but he says he's saving shampoo, lol. We live on a second-floor apartment unit, so we take advantage of the natural wind as well. On some days, we don't use electric fans because it's really windy.

I am glad that your partner was able to recover and back in his job again, I remember how hard to buy those medicine for my child when he had a bronco. It's funny that we are fooled by the brand for there is always a cheap alternative for them. thanks I hope you can save more also on expenses

- Saving coin in a piggy bank. - Buy as needed. - Salaries automatic transfer into a savings account. Attract savings once a week, for the basic necessities for a week. - Not using ATM cards.

I have been saving as well. I keep my money I earn online in my paypal account then when I have enough money I will transfer it to my bank account. I have not really splurged lately except for Randy's birthday and that is because he had a rough time lately. I am also into crafting lately and am hoping once I get my own apartment I will be able to continue crafting and try to sell things online. I also save my change and it does add up rather quickly. I think that by budgeting I can do it.

yes walking going to work can save as much, but sometimes I have this awkward feeling while walking I don't know its just me especially when I am already on my casual clothes for work. But not my sister that I recently put on discussion where she is really sweaty while already at work and all her colleagues will say "Oh you walk again, poor Amy", "don't you have money for a cab".

To be rich or well-off level, is not depent on how hard you save the money, but how hard you make the money. at least in China, no matter how much money you save in the bank or immovables, maybe, one day goverment will take it away when he lack of money to show to other countries how rich I am! How lucky I was born in China.

maybe that's the reason why some Chinese are migrating to other countries especially in Philippines, I just hope that your government will not take our land for there are so many Chinese that have been living here in our countries

huh? how come? Land belongs the country and if the government want to get it, they have to pay you money. But money is your own capital, the government has no right to get it in your hand, right?

for you to save money, you should buy what is really necessary..you shouldn't spend too much in accessories, gadgets, and other things which aren't really needed. And lastly you should know the difference between needs and wants..

These are good ideas for saving all of the time. If you can be sure to put that same money in your account when you do not spend it. I often say that I am going to save money and not eat out. I can skip the eating out, but the money never seems to get into my savings account.

Yes, that's actually a wise decision,"a money saved is a money earned". But I think, for you to multiply your saving, you must have a small business venture that can eventually grow. You need to invest a percentage of your earnings with it.

Hi ate! :) I was like Wow! 500K is such a big amount of money but I believe there's nothing impossible.. and like you, I'm lessening my soda intake to avoid diabetes and to save money as well. I have to be thrift since I have a lot of responsibilities now. Good luck ate! I know you can do it! :)

I can not go to shopping, but i should eat and drink which type i like...i don't cut off my food and my drink, i just cut off shopping, don't eat out for saving only. You do right when saving because it is the way to make your money rising also. It is really good when you have a good habit of saving. You can cut your electricity/cellphone bill off also. I do spend $3 for my cellphone a month only even though i do chat with my friend every night. before buying something, you should consider it is necessary to buy or not.. Hope you can save much money as your goal.

You are right, this is a simple way to save money. Our society advocate thrift. people should be encounged to practice. But in my opinion, this is just one way to save money, on the other hand, we should try our best to find right way to make money.this is the main way for us to increase money.

Hard work and proper budgetting can be the best ways to reach your goal. But its up to your income on how to make your goal achievable. If you got low income well you must have plenty of sidelines to undertake otherwise your goal will only be a dream.
