That is a very good move by Indian media if it is like that as you mentioned. We needed to have such reformations to help other sports getting recognition in India and to help us get better in highly believed tournaments like Olympics and Common Wealth Games. I totally feel it a very correct move. We used to blame media and rightly so in not getting us familiar with other sports, but now as I have seen a change in myself and expect same in other youngsters as well, I am very much eager to know about Indian Tennis and nearly all of the Olympics event. I thing our Olympic contenders lacked support which is in real high amount this time as compared to what they were used to.

Oh why not ridzzz. I feel media plays a very important role in popularizing a game and especially in India. I also think it is needed to reach every Indian and media certainly helps in that. Infact you cannot imagine how useful media can be, as we already see what it has done to the popularity of cricket in India. Imagine how great it would be if every Olympic game gets so much recognition and we are able to succeed that well in those games as well. All the youngsters will be encouraged to take up other games. Nothing would be better than this for future of Indian sports.

it would be extremely beneficial for the country. then sports would be seen as a career option. and the hidden talents would get so much boost to show their talents and get recognized and earn some respect for his country and for his countrymen and for himself. i would support this kind of activities. i would future like to see such initiative and responsible steps by the media. what do you feel about the media responsiveness?

I think this is a trend that is slowly helping in the development of the other sports. I think all sportsperson are equal, but it is difficult to see them as equal as whether we like it or not, the only sports in which Indians are world champions as of now is Cricket, Women's Boxing (Mary Kom) and Tennis (French Open winners in Mahesh and Sania). Saina has been carrying India's flag in badminton at a very high level. But in other sports there are flashes of achievements here and there, but nothing consistent. That is why media tends to go back to cricket every so often. Of course for the next 2 weeks the focus will be well and truly on the Olympics rather than anything else. Cheers! Ram

As professional sports-persons I should not really think so. But it is such a personal thing and might vary from person to person. So really it may or may not affect. Cheers! Ram
