Reality TV

I have seen some episodes of Big Brother Philippines (when they were introduced), and other reality shows which shows what happens inside an enclosed area for a period of time. It got me thinking: is it not a form of "peeping" as well? The whole nation can like watch one's every move for 24 hours, and then see the highlights. I think the highlights for reality cooking shows like Hell's Kitchen is fine, but do we really, really need to see what they're doing 24/7? Tell me what you think. :)

I have never been a huge fan of reality television. Why would I want to watch someone living their life when I could be out living my own? Though, I must confess, I do enjoy the ghost hunting shows (especially Ghost Hunters International)... they are so awful and entertaining at the same time!

To each his own, I guess :) I agree with you on the ghost hunting or the sort of searching for the most haunted places in the world kind of shows.

I have never been a fan of Big Brother-like shows, and yes, it is peeping, and a legal, accepted form of it, people can live out their desires like that. As for me, I don't see anything attractive in this. In my country, and I'm pretty sure it's the same with the other ones, only idiotic, moronic exchibitionistic, narcistic people apply, most of them are really dumb, uneducated yet hella proud of themselves because of how cool they are locally or how good they look. I watch a lot of reality TV, but rather talent searcher shows. They might be rigged and scripted as well, and there are lots of annoying media craze, gossips, way to long shows, adverts and whatnot, but at the same time, I'm not gonna waste my time on nobodies, but people who are talented and who deserve to be watched. Singers, dancers, musical actors (my fave reality show EVER was a show in my country where they looked for actors and actresses for a revival of my country's most famous rock-opera), cooks... I even like America's Next Top Model.

I never liked the Big Brother thing either. I recently have started watching America's Got Talent and Hell's Kitchen USA. :) As for the talent search programmes, I prefer the auditions versus the actual competition :D Oh well.

In my opinion it's not really reality TV as long as these people know there is a camera on them the whole time. Most if not all people do not show their true selves when on camera. All of us play a role as soon as we know there is a camera on us & someone is either taking a photo or video recording us. So no I don't consider it as peeping. When someone is peeping on someone else that person doesn't know that they are being spied on. These people on these reality TV shows know that they are being recorded the whole time, so no it's not the same thing. Not at all.
