Since I got married I've been doing all the house chores and cooking is my favorite tasks to do for everyday and by weekends my husband cooks for us.. I don't know what I should feel, Am I jealous or they just don't like my cooking,..because every time my husband cooks for us Me and our Children really loves his cooking. Are Men really good in cooking than women?, Most Men are the cooks of Major restaurants, Hotels, Diners, etc, etc.

i disagree with that i feel that women are better cooks then men mainly because as young girl we are give various cooking lessons on how to be better young women/and cooks so that we as women can keep a man!now i feel the reason for you and the kids liking the father/husband cooking is because he cook what the individual want instead of cooking whats on the menu plan on a day-to-day basis!

I think men or women can be good cooks if they put their mind to it. So for me, anyone either male or female can excel on anything if he/she trains and works hard to be what she/he wants to be. It's just a mistaken thought that one is good than the other.

I beg to differ. My husband can't cook to save his life. My father can manage and though he cooks most dishes that my mother does, a few of them are better than the ones my mother cooks. My kids like my husbands cooking since he cooks very rarely and his 'signature' dish is made of all that he can get his hands on at the moment and mix it with some available spices. It tastes different from our regular dishes and the kids enjoy that.

It is the same case for me. My husband liked cooking. He always prepared the dinner, specially during the weekends. My children too liked the dishes my husband prepared more than mine. It is indeed a reason to feel jealous. I think men can cook better than women. Just imagine the chef in hotels are mostly men and they do a fabulous job. In hospitals also men are the cook. I think men are god gifted in the field of cooking.

As several other responders already said it, chefs of great restaurants are rarely women : only 3 or 4 great chefs women are recognized in France. I would not say that women are not as good as men for cooking, but I think that they lack a bit of creativity, and it is what makes a great chef.

I do not think that women necessarily lack more creativity than men ... I am certainly more creative than a lot of men that I know ... however, I also do not think that I am a great chef nor would I want to be one, because I do not really enjoy cooking, although I do enjoy eating a delicious meal.

I think women cook better than men. In my family and in my country, most of the cooks in the household are usually the women. Men do not even know how to turn on the gas stove. But there are still chefs in the restaurant that are men. I think we are seeing a lot of male chefs in restaurants and hotels because they are the ones going out and working. usually the women stay home and cook for their children and take care of the kids. Happy mylotting.

Hello jaraan and welcome to myLot. I really don't believe that good cooks are gender related. Women are just as good cooks as are men. According to some culinary schools It is pretty even across the board. there are more women bakers too. In the home setting I think that there are cooks of both gender. I do think that men are more venturesome than women as a whole. If I were you I would not be jealous just enjoy his cooking. It might be that since your husband only cooks on weekends and his cooking is different that the kids like it so well. Some times kids don't show their appreciation as much is because they are more used to your cooking. So don't be hurt because it loos like they like his cooking more than yours.

We can never generalize since abilities do not really rely on gender. There are both awesome male and female cooks everywhere. In our house, my partner cooks all the time. While I can whip up a few dishes, cooking simply doesn't interest me. He, on the other hand, thinks of his own recipes! So it begins with an interest, and then with practice. Some learn from professionals, some just cook at home for their families. Maybe your children enjoy your husband's cooking because it's different and they don't always taste his cooking, just on weekends. Surely both you and your husband do your best to cook well for your beloved children.

I do not necessarily think that men are better cooks than women overall ... I think that it depends upon the individual. I also think that part of it might have to do with what is expected of the person versus what the person wants and likes to do. For example, a carpenter generally has a house that needs work, and mechanics often have cars that need repair, because they do that kind of work all day long, so they do not want to do it when they go home. Similarly, if a person has to cook for the family on a regular basis, he or she might not be as enthusiastic about it and therefore not put as much effort into it as the person who enjoys cooking and only does it once in a while.

Inn my case, I really love to cook that's why I usually the owner of our kitchen at home. lol I guess men are usually in the hotels and restaurant but not ncessarily better than women. There are women whoa re also good in the kitchen. My wife cooks good too. I guess some might says that men's imagination is better than women which might be used in cooking.

It's funny cause society asks of us girls to be cooking and if we are in our 20s and can't we ourselves be a little ashamed but indeed I hear at least for a sushi man men are better cause they have colder hands while women's are warmer and that's not good for cooking.

I think when men put the time and effort into it they are better at cooking people just assume in a relationship a between a man and a woman that the woman is better at cooking because it's pretty much been the womans job for kinda a while

Well,I do think that if men want to cook that they could cook better than women. There are many reasons.Don't you think it's lucky to have a husband who can cook?Sometimes being a housewife and doing all the house chores is tired.Since your husband cooks for you by weekends, you just need to enjoy that.

Although it seems women often cook for their families. However, the professional chefs are usually men. I think the reasons may be men have a bigger strength. It is a hard work to stir or hold the wok and so on. I love China

It does seem it is the way among today top cooking professional and is the trendy thing for many men learning to cook well for their family and achieve excellency in their chosen field. May be modern day family women don't believe anymore it is their duty to cook tasty food for their children and husband anymore, it is the men turn to cook well instead of them, so they spend less time in mastering this trade and improve their cooking skill. Women as a whole in the society may choose to pursue other interests other than cooking, resulted in spending less of their time in the kitchen; more in their office and field.

I think it is just stereotype. We can see on the media - TV, magazines that chefs are mostly male. Does not always mean that they are the best, i think. I have friends who are women working in hotels as chefs. I think, in this area everyone is equal as long as he do his or her best to attain the expertise. Thank you

Well I have had some similarities in the household. But I think this is because the women cook daily and sometimes their cooking - not that it is bad - but just that it can be repitious and maybe we lose our creativity. As for the men in restaurants etc - I do not know why that is but perhaps it is just the media hype. I would not believe completely that the majority is male. Because sometimes the media makes it out to be more than it actually is.

Maybe in the professional world men are better in the kitchen, but I know in my house that's definitely not the case! If I wasn't here to cook for my husband he'd be preparing all of his food in the microwave! I think he's managed to make grilled cheese or ramen noodles without burning the place down, but that's the extent of his 'cooking' ability.
