I never tried deodorizing my shoes because I never needed it. I would keep my shoes in open, but in shade so that it would never give a foul odor. I too have heard about the use of baking soda to neutralize the bad odor, but I don't know whether it would work for shoes or not.

if baking soda doesnt work, why dont you buy a deodorizing powder from the grocery. a friend of mine used "Milcu" that's one brand. i think there are other brands available too

I've actually used fabric softener sheets to deodorize my shoes and it works, you can also keep the sheets in the shoe while you wear them and keep them in there when you're not wearing them. I would suggest changing the fabric softener sheet atleast every two days if possible.

what happened when you put the baking soda? Did the odor somehow decrease? I have the same problem. My shoes are new but they're already a little stinky because of the rainy season and the insides of my shoes always gets wet that's why it has developed an odor. I've tried washing them but it has gotten worse. I think the more my shoes gets wet, the more it stinks. Ughh.

baking soda - alternative for cleaning
I never heard of putting your shoe inside freezer...eewy... i guess the smell of your shoe would harm the other food inside freezer. i won't try that myself, so sorry! I have heard of baking soda acting as cleaning agent also deodorizing agent for refrigerators, if i remember right. but i never tried that. we have charcoal (uling) inside our ref instead. Most of the time we dry our shoes directly from the sun, if it's raining, well, electric fan is our alternative. some say, placing at the back of your ref will do, cause the heat helps dry clothes or shoes... uses of baking soda... http://www.care2.com/greenliving/51-fantastic-uses-for-baking-soda.html

Try to use foot powder, and use foot wear not made of plastic. Traditional way, try to soak your feet in a luke warm water with saline or salt. In some provinces, some believe to put your feet in a carabao's pooh.

Putting your shoes inside the freezer? That sound really ridiculous to me. Anyway I won't do that. If you want effective way of deodorizing your shoes then I can only recommend one way: Use pure tawas (alum) powder. Just sprinkle the pure powder into your shoes. That will surely be of help.

Never heard of salt. Baking soda is a good one. Bady powder, spray deodorant, Odor Eaters are good ones that help for a period of time. I have tried these and they work. But if you wear your shoes for hours there may be a problem. If you have ordor problems I would be careful of what kind of materials the shoes you perchase are made out of. Be sure they are of good quality.

I think baking soda could really help remove the odors. But some leather shoes have really strong smells that's hard to remove. Usually bad-smelling odors are caused by bacteria, the growth of which is due from the wetness of your pair of shoes, say from exposure to wet weather or sweaty feet. So one way is to keep your shoes always dry. One of the things baking soda does is to absorb the wetness. I don't think it actually kills the bacteria. I think there are products that can do this. Oh, if you're a coffee drinker, you could also use coffee grounds. It works similar to baking soda

I've heard all the tips there are, because my shoes smell NASTY! My feet sweat a lot, and the shoes absorb the smell. The best thing to do is buy some cedar chips and a little bit of lavender (or any other scent you like) oil. You soak the cedar chips in the oil, let them dry, then put them in a pair of socks (one you never plan on wearing again, preferably bought new just for this), tie off the ends, and stick them inside your shoes. The cedar will absorb the bad smell from the shoes, and the oil will deposit a nicer smell to replace it. From what I've heard from friends, this works VERY well.

Hi, I have been using a particular product from the brand Oriflame to put up with this problem of smell from shoes. It is called the Feet Up Deodorising Foot Powder. This one I apply whenever I am wearing shoes. In fact I recommended the product to my boyfriend also who wears shoes everyday to office. It is a very effective product and keeps my shoes dry and odorless. I find it the best way to deodorize shoes. If you get this product in your country you can give it a shot. They are a very reputed brand and I have got benefits from each and every product of theirs that I have used. Hope this helps and have a nice day!

One best thing for baking soda is it acts as deodorizer. Yes it will deodorize your shoes but it does not take effect instantly. Just leave the baking soda inside your shoes before washing them. Furthermore, you can also apply some foot deodorizer to avoid your shoes to have stingy odor. Better to ventilate them and don't wear wet shoes, let them dried properly, if possible under the sun. Rinshing your shoes after washing in a warm water with a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of vinegar can somewhat help in killing the odor-causing bacteria in your shoes. But again, let them dry properly.

The tinge to do is just go to the st0re and get a can of foot powder sprinkle it in your shoes every time you wear them, then the problem is gone.
