Senator Reid makes another wild claim

It seems that Senator Reid has a secret source that knows Gov Romney did not pay some of his taxes. It is funny that the IRS has not found anything wrong with his tax returns and the SEC has found no wrong doing on his part while at Bain Capital but this secret source knows. (If there is wrong doing on the part of Gov. Romney and it is reported to the IRS there is a substantial reward to the person who reports it.) Senator Reid makes the charge trying to force Gov. Romney to disclose more of his tax records, why, because that is where the Democrats have gotten things to embarrass Gov Romney. It was in his tax return that he had off shore accounts - that were established by the trusties of his Blind Trust which he has no control over.
Senator Reid makes it sound like Gov Romney has done something wrong, after all if he has nothing to hid why not show the tax returns. The same could be said of President Obama if you are such a smart person then release your college grades and your papers that you wrote, if there is nothing wrong then why not release them or are your hiding something.
Remember Senator Reid is the same man who even before the Surge in Iraq was implemented was calling it a failure, he called the President of the US Stupid and a Liar. He makes these wild statements but never backs them up with proof. I guess it is like the question "When did you stop beating your wife?" No matter how you answer the question the accusation has been made and you are guilty until you can prove yourself innocent.

You know it would help if Senator Reid concentrated more on his job than gossip. Apparently, running the Senate isn't as important as spreading unsubstantiated rumors.

At least Boehner is putting up bills for votes unlike Harry Reid who has to constantly wait on a Presidential speech to find a bill to put up for a vote. Reid is definitely the biggest whiner on the block and this rumor-mongering proves it.

You are right there. I think that if ALL were to focus on their own jobs instead of gossip and finger pointing and all...things would be a lot better in this country.

I think that is what congressmen think IS their job. Except for John Boehner, it appears that his job is to cry as often as possible, and tan. I can't believe the people in Ohio can look at this guy and think he can relate to them. I have NEVER seen ANYONE from Ohio with a tan year round, and I live here!!!

Bob, there were other things in his tax returns that didn't make sense, like his $100 MILLION dollar IRA, which we all know limits a normal person to $30,000 a year in contributions. So, unless Romney started his this account 330 years ago, things just don't make sense. We all know that the IRS doesn't audit everyone's taxes, and who know if they have looked at this taxes? Do you know for a fact he has been audited in the last 12 years?
We also know that "Blind Trust" are not always blind, and you are responsible in a court of law for your investments.
Personally I feel that Obama should release his college papers, and should have years ago. All of you right wingers think he is a communist, if his papers prove you to be correct who does it really hurt? But, that doesn't mean that Romney will release his taxes, that will do real damage, and his own wife's words prove it. We all know there is something in those taxes that he doesn't want ANYONE to see, and we will NEVER see them!!! So he shouldn't be surprised that the country wants to know what he is hiding. We have been hearing about Obama's birth certificate for 5 years, why shouldn't we talk about Romney's taxes for the next 3 months?

Debater,
Romney has already addressed why he will release no more returns. He has released all he is required to by law and that's that. Conversely we have no idea why BHO will not release his long form birth certificate. Again, same philosophy as you, if there is nothing to hide, why has he spent millions to keep it hiden?

If he has filed illegal why hasn't the IRS taken him to task? If his IRA is illegal why hasn't the Obama Campaign used it against Romney?
The point of the discussion is a Senior Member of Government is making an accusation and telling the person accused to prove him self innocent. Maybe I read the Constitution wrong but aren't we innocent until the government proves us guilty? Senator Reid is saying your are a tax cheat now prove you are not. Guilty until proven innocent is that the Change we were promised 4 years ago?

Rodney, what is the long form birth certificate going to do for you? He has released his birth certificate, and newspaper clippings showing his birth. Romney has release a portion of his taxes, and has said he will "TRY" to release his current years taxes when they are done. I won't hold my breathe.
Why won't Romney release his taxes if he has nothing to hide?

Bob, apparently you either had different sources for this story than I did or you took it completely differently from me because what I understand Senator Reid to have said is that someone from Bain told him Romney had paid no taxes for 10 years. I didn't take it to mean Reid was accusing Romney of doing anything ILLEGAL, just that he possibly managed to take advantage of enough loopholes to avoid paying anything in federal income taxes for at least a decade. Therefore, there wouldn't be anything "wrong" for the IRS or SEC to find although that certainly doesn't make it RIGHT.
You have to admit there must be something keeping Willard from releasing more tax returns than he has. It's not required by law for Presidential candidates to do so but that hasn't stopped most of the recent candidates for the office from releasing up to 8-12 years worth or returns, including Romney's own father, who actually started the trend.
You also must know Romney himself admitted blind trusts are nothing more than "a ruse" and that he indeed DOES have control over them. By the way, does anyone here have an IRA account worth millions? How did you do it if you followed the law and contributed no more than $5000 per year?

In this country you are innocent until the Government proves you guilty. Senator Reid is saying he has done something wrong and you have to prove you didn't. I would like to see the FBI, IRS and SEC investigate and put Senator Reid under oath to tell us who his source is, proved information to back up his charge and if he does not then he is lying and obstructing justice.
What is keeping President Obama from releasing his college records? What is he hiding, did he lie on his application by filing as a foreign student, did he use a false Social Security number? These charges have been made by people and nobody has gotten the coverage that Senator Reid has received making his baseless charge.
Maybe this person is the same phantom rich man that talked to Rep Gephart about taxing the rich more so that he could make more. When challenged he could not produce the person. It is interesting that when the Democrats want to destroy someone they can find people who make a charge and then never take it to the point to prove it. Make the accu action and then walk away and make the person prove it is not true.

I think you're misunderstanding me and Harry Reid; nobody accused Willard of committing any crime, in fact the way our convoluted tax laws are we probably shouldn't be surprised that someone like him could actually not owe any federal income taxes. Even with his lack of sensitivity about other people's feelings he's GOT to know it wouldn't look too good for a near-billionaire politician who is running on even larger tax cuts for people like him while making the poor and middle class pay more to have paid ZERO even one year, let alone TEN.
To me there's absolutely no comparison between one's tax records and one's college records from decades ago. I sure have no real interest in seeing any of their college records, neither of them are recent graduates who haven't had time to show what they're capable of. I don't know what coverage you're watching but I've sure heard and seen more about accusations against the President than about what Senator Reid was allegedly told. The problem is, in my view, those making the accusations against Obama have far less credibility than Senator Reid. Joe Arpaio and Orly Taitz are good examples.

This is what conservative CNN reporter Dana Bash told Anderson Cooper:
I did speak to one source who is very close to Senator Reid who claims to also know who the Bain investor is that Reid spoke with, and insists that it is a credible person and this person if we knew the name we would understand they would have the authority and the ability to know about Romney's tax returns.

The Dems have to discredit Romney to the American people because they can't promote Obama on his record. He doesn't have one to promote and has done nothing they can use to secure votes. So..if one can't run on his record..one has to discredit the opponent and try to at least get people to not vote for the other guy...even if they don't vote for him. This is verified by listening to Obama...when was the last time he said "I put people to work" or "I solved the housing foreclosure crises" or anything that he has done in the past 3 years to help this country...regardless of who's fault it was?

Funny how I seem to remember a 2009 problem Obama had with picking people for his administration hadn't paid their taxes in years.
But 1800-Mis-Cleo...er Reid, has a sixth sense that Romney isn't paying his taxes.
Again... it's only wrong if *other* people do it.

It reminds me of a Democrat 'volunteer', just "happen" to have cell phone scanning equipment in his car, and just "happen" to pick up Newt Gingrich's cell phone call, and just "happen" to have recording equipment, and then as a public service, turned the recording into police....er... I mean Democrat senators for um.... safety concerns and public awareness.... right?
But of course the Patriot Act is BAD BAD BAD!! YOU ARE INFRINGING OUR RIGHTS!!! Violations like ROVING WIRETAPS!............
Wait.... so roving wire tap of Newt Gingrich's phone = good. Roving wire taps of potential terrorists = bad.
What am I missing here? Oh right... it's only bad if *OTHER* people do it.

They thing is, now I have not checked the research on this and it is said they have proof from someone who works at Bain or worked at Bain siad, "that Romney may have not paid taxes in years." So if the White house is as smart as they always claim to be. They better have that much right if they are putting it out there.
While people maybe happy with glee, that this maybe true, I am not because all this does is show we have a f'd up system which most of us knew. All we do anymore is show which person is more corrupt. How fixing things? We all know its a dirty game and all this does is make it dirtier. Until then pretty much all politicians are in the same boat. If they want to do something different then do something different. All they do is pretend. If any really think the Tea Party is different, sorry missed again. At least the corrupt politicians know what is going on. The Tea Party has no clue.
