Today is Sunday,
hubby planned to eat out; so we all members of the family moved out, ate in a street side ‘dhaba’ on the highway; the food was very good-see picture.
It had white fine rice, dal, roti, and curd with ground coconut, kheer, 2 vegetable curries; sliced cucumber, and papad , it was yummy; cost only 100 rupees.
The added feature was-you can eat as much you like.

The same food in a restaurant or hotel will cost 300 rupees; for extra you have to pay.

So do you like to eat outside on weekends?
Do you visit roadside eatery on highways or restaurants?
How much you pay?
Please share your eating experience and comment on this.

For our family it is pretty much a tradition for us to go out to eat during the weekend. The reason that we tend to do this is because of the fact that we tend to spend a lot more time outside the house during the weekend.
How much we spend on meals that we do not eat at home really depends on what kinds of meals that we choose to eat. If we are eating fast food, it is typically around 15-20 dollars for the entire family. If we are going to a nice restaurant, I would say that we average spending about 40 dollars for the four of us.

Once a week, my wife and I prefer to eat at the street side. We spent 20.000-50.000 rupiahs (equivalent to US$ 2-5). In restaurants, it may be five times more expensive.

Sunday, my favorite day of the week. its the only time of the week where me and my whole family get together. As for the meal, we often times just stay and home and cooked whatever my wife and kids wanted to eat. Most of the time, it would be foods that was not eaten for the entire week. It maybe local dishes or any kind of food that all agreed to eat. Sometimes (at least twice a month), we do get to a local restaurant to eat. But, whatever the food is and how it is being prepared, I would still treasure each Sunday that I am with my whole family.

Oh! This thali appears to be quite tempting and mouthwatering. I remember eating from roadside trolleys, dhabas and small restaurants every Sunday night. It was always a different experience. Each member would order a different dish and then we would share all the dishes.
I remember once we had chhole bhature from a small restaurant. It was Rs 20 per plate (around 14 yeas back). That day everyone planned to order the same dish. They served 2 bhature, a bowl of chickpeas with onion, green chilies and lemon. Only dad was able to finish his plate. We all got our plates packed for we couldn't finish it.

We frequent this food court nearby where they have many different Asian foods; Philippines, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hong Kong, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian, Indian, Korean and Japanese. They don't have Thai food inside the Food Court, but there is one good Thai restaurant just outside the Food Court. We love the price as well as the atmosphere of eating inside the Food Court. We can order our food and eat there where there are rows of long bench tables that sit up to 10 people comfortably. After frequenting the place for some time, we get to know many of the vendors as well as customers who come there regularly like us.

I too like tasting food from different places , big restaurnat, small ones or road side dhabas as long as it is clean and the food is good.In fact smaller restaurants run mainly because of the quality of their food , so they make sure that it is tasty...hope all ok with you and Professor , take care

hello kal,
its been a while i have not had a bonding with my daughter and granddaughter. we always go out though when we can and go to a barbeque grill house.
i eat more often outside than at home. the professor knows that because i come home very late and since i live alone, no one would cook for me and i will be very hungry by then. my granddaughter is still very young to do it for me. i go home most of the time around 10pm. daughter and granddaughter would already be asleep by then in their own home. sometimes i order from the canteen and bring it home and eat it there.
most of the time, i just heat up left overs in the morning when i reach home at night. so that is what i eat. not a very exciting dinner though.
have a nice day.
