What Do You Do With A Huge Knot In Your Hair

I had yet another huge knot in my long hair this morning before after I washed my hair in the shower today and no matter what I tried it was not coming out without losing more hair. I kept putting more and more leave in conditioner detangler spray in it til it finally at least got slightly smaller. My other option was to cut it out but it would have left a bigger problem. What do you do if this happens? Do you have to cut it out too or do you use the conditioner to get it out combing it over and over til it is straightened out. I wore a hair tie in my hair last night as it was so hot here to keep it off my neck, thats probably why it did that.

Some people swear by apple cider vinegar as a detangler. I have never used it. However, I have not had any issue with tangles since I started using white vinegar in my hair. I wish that I would have discovered earlier just how good white vinegar is for hair.

I have heard of used cider vinegar in the hair as a conditioner that makes your hair shiny and have used it but dislike the smell so I rarely do that. I didn't know regular white vinegar did anything either. I think if I could rinse it out after using it might not be so obvious that I used it.

You're supposed to rinse it out. Otherwise, you're going to be smelling like you need some french fries to go with your hair. I use the vinegar in conjunction with my regular shampoo. It has worked well for me.

Are you leaving your hair loose when you go to bed? If so that is probably why you are having big knots in it. I always braid my hair and that way it won't knot up so badly. If I get a knot I comb it in short strokes from the bottom until I can get it out. From different areas in the knot so it straightens. I think if you braid it it may help it keep from knotting up.

It will help to braid your hair. Also, if you use a hair tie that could cause you hair to break off. You are actually laying on that and it can't be comfortable and then the tie breaks off your hair. During the day you are laying on the tie and pressuring the hair around it and causing it to break off.

Yea, most of the time I do that wearing my hair loose, I never braid it but it seems to be one solution I'll have to do more often. I rarely get knots that bad but the hair tie thingie must have done it. I toss and turn alot at times when I have trouble sleeping and am sure it doesn't help matters much. I did that too from the bottom and it eventually came out, most of it anyways.

I did that last night and n o more knots this morning, woohoo! I'm a happy hair person now, lol. I used to use elastic bands or other kinds of hair ties but the ones I use now are quite softer and more gentle on the hair normally, but I toss and turn alot when I can't sleep and it gets so tangled that way.
