since my groupmates in a few subjects are much more smarter than i am and i feel i can't contribute much.. I do try to give my solutions to certain projects but they rarely respond/listen to me. I can't really complain since they do most of the job..
I don't feel like i am part of the group at all. Maybe i should just try harder to help.

Dear Lady,
When I was a student I felt that way too. But you know what I realized? Sometimes it doesn't really matter who contributed the idea because in the end the group will be appreciated as a group. What matters is you are available to help and you are cooperating.

Your groupmates might know more about this subject than you do, but that doesn't mean that you are a bad student. We all have strengths and weaknesses and in another subject or project you might be smarter than your groupmates. In your situation I would keep on participating even when the other groupmates don't seem to listen much because I would feel better about trying than doing nothing at all. I don't think that it is nice of your groupmates to ignore you. They might have a lot of knowledge about the project/the subject, but it sounds like they have less knowledge about groupwork. The advantage about groupwork is the fact that you can benefit from the strengths of the different members and if you refuse to listen to one of the members I think that you have misunderstood the purpose of groupwork.

I feel that too sometimes. Whenever I feel like my groupmates don't listen to me, I just increase my volume so they can hear and they will LISTEN to what I am trying to say. But if they still ignore your suggestions for the group, then just let them do all the work. Just tell them to tell you when they need you.

See every person is special in some way or the other. Do not feel disheartened if your group mates are being indifferent to you. try to explore those areas where you are the best and then try to capitalize on those areas and show your prowess in those areas to your group mates. i am sure they will start realizing very soon that even you have that spark and potential. What say?

Awww, lady1993 do not sell yourself short. It just so happened that in the area you and your group are working on happens to be something they are good at, but that doesn't mean you are less of a person or student than they are. Just keep on throwing ideas, participate and listen each time there's a chance. Also, volunteer yourself to do some works which you think you can handle. Sometimes we have to step up to be acknowledged and to prove what we can do.
Your group mates are lucky to have you; if it were someone else, they will just enjoy riding along without doing anything for the project. Goodluck!
